Re: Large cargo plane crashes near Monterrey International Airport in northern Mexico - killing at least several people
MEXICO CITY (BNO NEWS) -- A large cargo plane crashed near Monterrey International Airport in northern Mexico on late Tuesday, killing at least several people, reports said.

The Airbus A300 belonging to AeroUnion went down shortly after 11 p.m. local time and crashed near the airport, causing a major traffic chaos. The Milenio newspaper reported that five crew members were believed dead.

The newspaper reported that most of the aircraft crashed on the grounds of the airport, although a turbine and wing fell off and landed on a highway near the airport. There were conflicting reports on if there were casualties on the ground. Several media outlets reported that a car may have been destroyed in the crash.
The Reforma newspaper reported that the plane was taking off when the accident happened, and said it was bound for Los Angeles. It said weather is unlikely to have caused the accident, and said the death toll could rise further. Milenio, however, said the plane was landing after a flight from Mexico City.
A large fire broke out after the aircraft crashed. The Mexican army and the Federal Police have cordoned off the area.

Jorge Camacho, the state director of Civil Protection, reported that the plane crash was not affecting the operations at the airport.

Hmm, surely they should know whether the plane was taking off or landing.
