Anonymous Coward User ID: 945622 Germany 04/17/2010 12:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So, Nibiru was meant to be a Planet orbiting a brown dwarf. Well, one interesting point is not mentioned in the articel. UGPS 0722-05 is orbited by a Planet-like compagnon: [link to www.space.com] Quote: "The researchers detail their findings in the May 1 issue of the Astrophysical Journal Letters." So lets wait for May 1st for further details. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 747374 United States 04/17/2010 12:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A Hidden Cosmic Neighbor: Cool Brown Dwarf Found Lurking Near Our Solar System Quoting: Silicon JockAstronomers have discovered the closest new star to us that’s been spotted in 63 years. Though “star” might be a stretch, depending upon whom you ask. The new find, UGPS 0722-05, is less than 10 light years from here. But sky-watchers missed it for so long because it’s a brown dwarf, a member of the murky class of celestial objects that linger between gas giant planets and low-mass stars. Brown dwarfs have so little mass that they never get hot enough to sustain the nuclear fusion reactions that power stars like the sun. Still, they do shine, because they glow from the heat of their formation, then cool and fade [New Scientist]. This dwarf’s temperature is somewhere between 266 and 446 degrees Fahrenheit, making it the coldest scientists have even seen. With its minimal activity, the brown dwarf gives off just 0.000026 percent the amount of light that our sun does. Like dwarf planets, which cast aside the 9-planet solar system of our childhoods and riled Pluto-philes everywhere, brown dwarfs don’t lend themselves to simple scientific definitions. The International Astronomical Union sets the planet–brown dwarf boundary at 13 times the mass of Jupiter. But that mass limit is an imperfect definition—what of brown dwarf–size bodies that orbit stars, behaving themselves like supersized planets [Scientific American]? The nomenclature could get even messier when the details of this new find are confirmed. Study leader Philip Lucas and his colleagues suggest that the newly discovered brown dwarf is so cool that it might be the first member of a new class of ultralow temperature dwarfs. Although one fingerprint of such a new class, absorption of infrared light by ammonia, appears to be missing, only “time will tell” if the discovery merits a new classification, the researchers note [Science News]. Lucas’ team’s paper is currently being submitted to the journal Nature, where the peer-review process should help to verify how close the team was with its parallax measurement of the brown dwarf’s distance. If they’re correct, UGPS 0722-05 will not only beat out the previous record-holders for proximity to Earth—a binary set of brown dwarfs in the Epsilon Indi system, about 11.8 light-years away—it would also suggest that perhaps more of these shadowy celestial objects linger even closer to us. [link to blogs.discovermagazine.com] Alpha Centauri is only 4.37 light years from our sun. This brown dwarf is more than twice as far. Nothing here to sweat. |

At the same time, those people also affirm that NASA have being conspiring against humanity by hiding important infomation about unknow forces in our universe. It is like that: when NASA confirm they hallucination, they believe in NASA and use the research of serious scientists to confirm they childish fantasy. When someone present them with solid arguments which dismiss the existence of Niburu/PlanetX, they blame that NASA is hiding the necessary information to confirm they theories. Just one word for this behaviour: pathetic. [youtube] [link to www.youtube.com] |

I'd have to agree with him/her though, because I've seen the effects of this celestial object in a prophetic dream. It is real, but what I saw looks like rolling, black clouds moving across the sun and moon and stars falling. It definitely doesn't sound like shattered glass like in the video. It sounds like fireworks. We don't know that this will happen for sure, because nothing is absolute. I've said this so many times. |

TPTB know something is up,thats why they have siphered off huge amounts of cash in the market. They seemingly act confused, but they are hoarding resources for their survival. Something is approaching and causing the quakes, and TPTB are insuring that they survive and we don't. |

However, if this monster is so close and it has escaped us until now, wonder if there are others even closer that have also gone "unseen". :) Quoting: Silicon JockWow, monsters lurking 10 light years away. Will they be here in this generation or the next? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 842122 United States 04/17/2010 04:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | fool this is nemesis and not nibiru.nibiru crashed and formed the asteroid belt Quoting: Anonymous Coward 945375Actually if you combined everything whizzing around inside the asteroid "belt" into one object it'd be something like... smaller than half the size of our moon. It's pretty...barren. Not that I believe in Nibiru. But it's clear the asteroid "belt" isn't composed of the remnants of some rogue "planet". And yeah, this is old news. Actually it's predicted news. As stated on page 1, this is the reason they launched WISE. To find brown dwarves. Of which there are probably tons. Everywhere. Probably some very, very close. Whether or not one of these things constitutes your "Nemesis"....well, I guess that depends on what your "definition" of your "Nemesis" is... There are so many. Basically, in my opinion, and I've read "a book or 2", any theory of a killer "object" hurtling through our inner solar system fucking shit up is...silly. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 825669...When has "science" (a vague term, btw) been "secretive" about the existence of brown dwarves (or the fact that they've always been mysterious because we can't see them all that great)? The only difference now is, again, with telescopes like WISE, we'll be able to spot them much clearer than ever before. Brown dwarves aren't a part of the fringe of astronomy only spoken about in whispers on internet message boards. They're very much part of the mainstream and have been for some time. Just go to Border's or any library- they're discussed at length in any book about stars/space-in-general. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 945402Our Sun, like bright stars, is in "arc mode". This can all be demonstrated under laboratory conditions, whereas the mathematically-based Standard Model cannot. I find it amusing that the Electric Universe is now touting their lack of a mathematical model as a "strength." Lots of things "look similar." Opossums look like large rats. But they are tens of millions of years diverged; the North American 'possum is a marsupial, the only native marsupial in North America, and as different from a rat as a rat is different from a donkey. As long as electric universe proponents are content to look at pretty pictures and sling around adverbs "We expect the comet impact to be 'bigger'" -- no actual quantification offered, then they will not be taken seriously by the rest of science. Stop pushing your fake science among those without the tools to recognize your omissions and half-truths, go back to the lab, roll up your sleeves, and start making it a real science. |
