Re: Eyjafjallajokull volcano has ALWAYS triggered KATLA
Scientists say history has proven that whenever the Eyjafjallajokull volcano erupts, Katla always follows -- the only question is how soon.
The potential eruption of Iceland's volcano Katla would likely send the world, including the USA, into an extended deep freeze.

Experts are not as concerned about Eyjafjallajokull as much as a nearby volcano that has much greater potential. Past activity at Eyjafjallajokull has triggered eruptions at the Katla volcano.

Over the past 1,100 years, Eyjafjallajökull has erupted four times: in 920, 1612, between 1821–1823, and in 2010. Each of the first three of these incidents directly preceded a major eruption in the nearby subglacial volcano, Katla.

how do they know information like this? Is there a large population center near them? When was the last time you met someone from Iceland? I can't imagine there were many more people there 1000 years ago.

Geologic evidence. People don't have to have lived there and kept written record for a geologist to pull a core sample from a glacier or dig down and see rock and soil strata.

I don't get the comment about the world going into a deep freeze. How do they qualify that?

I mean, if Katla last erupted in the 1800's, how come we didn't go into a deep freeze then?

Eyjafjallajökull eruption is just the appetizer.

Statistically, three of four times have Eyjafjallajökull only been the starter.
Katla eruption will be much greater than that from Eyjafjallajökull.

This current volcano erupted for 2+ years the last time it erupted, 2+ years of ash going into atmosphere and going around the globe with the winds, if the second one goes off which is much bigger - it is going to start getting pretty cold out there.

Not even to mention say a super volcano in yellowstone or anywhere else going off, oh my.

Glad I live in FLORIDA - maybe in upcoming years snow will be normal here in winter.
