Iceland Volcano dust blows to Kauai island, Hawaii
Aloha, i have no link, however i have my good word. on the morning of 14th April, i was on payed vacation from wife's employer on Kauai island, Polihale state park, on the far west side of Kauai. we camped 2 days on the beach, i have a black moped leather seat. i had reviewed the weather report before leaving, noticing a "unseasonable cold core LOW was moving rapidly south", from the Alaskan Aleutians. the wind had blown the entire time we were there, @ 35mph, sustained, from the NNW. ON MY BLACK MOPED SEAT, i noticed a thin layer of unusual PPM DUST, light black, to gray, with 3 colors variation. i simply wiped up the dusty with a finger test, and rubbed it together. the first thing came to mind was i lived in Alaska recently 6 years, and i know what volcanic ash/ dust consistency looks like. the dust felt SHARP, and granular on my flesh. the cold core LOW rushed down the north pacific, with better than GALES in the system, i believe delivering a small stretch of Icelandic volcanic emission, to THIS ISLAND. no, it was clearly not 'VOG", or local from the big island Hawaii, well south of us,, and we did not have "Kona winds", ANY OF THOSE 3 DAYS. i took 2 pictures of the dust coating my windshield mini van, and BLACK moped seat. it was VERY CLEAR TO IDENTIFY. i hope some scientists appreciate this report! have a bright business day! V wtf

To further substantiate my claim, we had left the state park, that morning to travel to another, at a higher location, driving up the Waimea canyon. as we visited the lookouts, for views of the pacific ocean and the canyon, i noticed a less than desired scenic picture over the pacific...sure enough, a thin, medium GRAY inversion layer was right over the pacific waters, easily noticed over the area. this would be looking SOUTH, towards Oahu island, from @ 2,500 ft elevation. we did not take the pictures we had hoped, it was a cold, windy and yukky background, for what's usual; around here! spock thanks for any other replies,...

Possible, possible...could have come from the Russian volcano off the coast, it's been going off too.

When I checked the USGS list of current volcanic activity on the site above, I was surprised to see Mt. St. Helens listed as on-going...

Hi rev....no, i sure looked hard though, it was very hard to stand up, and even see...the wind was stiffer than the usual sand layer...the Polihale SAND was in STORM MODE...and the sand is distinctly colored. the DUST, it what surprised me....completely from out of this area, and rather abrasive/ sharp...... NO sunrise shells, due to eye strain and sandy problem, WOW was it BLOWING! even the local Honolulu meteor's said quoted as stated "UNSEASONABLY COLD CONDITIONS, FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR".... spock scratching

Winds from NNW? That would come directly from Kamchatka -- one of the most volcano-populated turfs on the globe.

Also remember this is dust season from the Gobi and Taklamakan in China/ Mongolia, but that would be orange to brown dust.

Have fun with this Kamchatka webcam:
