MAY 2, 2005. For several years, on this site, and for many years before I started nomorefakenews, I´ve been writing about the use of so-called epidemics as cover stories.

The epidemics, of course, are actually illness caused, ultimately, by non-germ factors such as contaminated water, toxic drugs and chemicals, malnutrition, starvation, overcrowding, general poverty, and lack of basic sanitation.

But, to the fear-mongering framers of these epidemics, germs are a terrific way of diverting people from the real causes.

Germs also inspire panic.

Aside from the goals of depopulation, debilitation, and the removal of basic rights from citizens, epidemics serve another function:

They are convincers that we all live in one large shared community; we are interdependent; the individual human being is unimportant.

The individual´s basic power is set aside as useless myth. Only the group has meaning, and the group must adjust to the germ. The group must obey the dictates of central authority, in order to survive.

This is medical fascism at its most effective peak.

The human being is viewed as a potential communicator of germs to his neighbors.

We are all together under the aegis of The Germ, and we must obey all the rules to stop its contagion.

Every person is understood as a relay point for a germ or an assistor in its curtailment.

Along similar lines, under overt political fascism, the individual is described as the willing worker who effectively contributes his share to the progress of the group, or as a detractor and obstructionist to the overall goal of the State.

Given all this, I expect to see, sooner or later, a fabricated epidemic within a confined area, in which some citizens are labeled GOOD because they exhibit slavish cooperation with authorities in halting the spread of the germ, and some citizens are labeled BAD (and are possibly prosecuted) for refusing to all abandon their rights---and therefore exacerbating the communication of "the disease."

At which point, CLEAN and UNCLEAN will gain further traction as standards by which to judge segments of the population. These concepts, of course, were popular tags in Nazi Germany.

You now have another way of looking at the lies being told about flu deaths in the US. For some time, I have been exposing that sham. For example, 65 confirmed cases of death from the flu in the US during one season, instead of 36,000, the figure endlessly touted by the CDC.

In order for the cover story to suceed, in order for the invented-disease program to fulfill its political destiny, people must fear germs. 65 deaths achieves the opposite result.

My family and I are planning on dropping off the planet (sort of speak;) come June and though nothing bad may happen during the summer, if it does, we will be far enough from the panicking masses to have a half chance of surviving it.

If all goes well (and I´m praying it will), this summer on the road (water) is going to be ´one for the books´.

I work in a hopital as a nurse. Every year it´s the same routine. The older people get the flu-shots, and within a few days/weeks almost all get the flu....

Is true that in the hospitals implant you chips in operations and in the vaccines? Do you note an increase of sicknesses such as cancer since they are spraying chemtrails?

I don´t believe in implants. Do u know how many people (working) there are in an operationroom? And they all agree on implanting things??? With so much surgery going on nowadays at least a few people would spill the beans don´t you think?

Yes cancer is going up, but i don´t know if it has anything to do with chemtrails. Don´t forget that people do get older then in the past. Most cancers are still old-age cancers. The things that we eat are not always good for you. and think about airpollution from cars, airplanes, factory, ships, etc.

To spur action on killer flu, a dire ´call to arms´

Consider this scenario: A lethal new flu virus emerges to claim millions of lives and sicken millions more. Many patients can´t get ventilators or drugs because of an international shortage.

Hospitals are so packed that schools turn gymnasiums into makeshift wards. Bodies pile up because people are dying faster than they can be buried. Food is scarce. The worldwide economy is paralyzed.

Sound far-fetched? It´s all too plausible, says Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota.

The United States is poorly prepared to confront a potential influenza pandemic that some experts believe could be brewing in Southeast Asia, Osterholm writes in today´s issue of the New England Journal of Medicine, which commissioned the piece.

The country could lessen the magnitude of a pandemic if it acts now, Osterholm said. He called for a "worldwide influenza Manhattan Project" to produce and deliver a vaccine. And the public, industry and government all need to intensify planning and help the health system avoid a disaster, he asserted.

"I am not trying to scare people out of their wits," said Osterholm, a former bioterrorism special adviser to the current Bush administration. "I am trying to scare them into their wits."

His ominous tone follows months of escalating alarm from global officials that the avian flu virus circulating in Asia could create a medical catastrophe.

Even if the world escapes a pandemic now, experts say, it is only a matter of time before some flu strain causes mass death.

"It is a very high-profile call to arms," said Neil Fishman, director of infection control for the University of Pennsylvania Health System. "We are unprepared."

Osterholm - Minnesota´s state epidemiologist for 16 years - has a good record on prognostications. He predicted that a mosquito-borne illness would arise before West Nile did. And he warned about bioterrorism before anthrax turned up in letters.

Osterholm said a flu pandemic was inevitable - part of a cycle that has been repeated 10 times in the last 300 years.

"It is like hurricanes if you live on the Gulf Coast," he said.

World health officials now are closely monitoring the H5N1 avian flu virus, which experts worry could mutate and spread easily. So far, the H5N1 strain mainly has infected people in Southeast Asia through direct contact with chickens and birds.

Compared with typical flu viruses that cause about 36,000 deaths a year in this country, H5N1 is potentially more serious because it would be new and people would have no immunity.

An H5N1 pandemic "could rival those of 1918, when more than half the deaths occurred among largely healthy people between 18 and 40 years of age," Osterholm wrote.

Even an all-out effort to fight a pandemic would likely fall short in the near term because of a lack of medical supplies, he wrote. For example, the United States would lack enough mechanical ventilators to treat the flu´s victims. And a vaccine for a new strain would take at least six months to develop.

Detailed plans also need to be developed by every school board, business and state legislature.

"I don´t think we can wholesale prevent a pandemic," said Eddy A. Bresnitz, New Jersey´s state epidemiologist. But "we can prepare ourselves better to mitigate the impact."

Here are some problem areas:

VACCINES

Vaccines likely would be in short supply and only a fraction of the population would be inoculated, Osterholm said.

It´s also unclear who would be first in line: the old or the young? Should medical workers and police officers be first?

Making flu vaccine today is antiquated and still uses chicken eggs in the manufacturing process. Osterholm said the goal should be developing a vaccine in cell-based cultures that would protect against all types of influenza.

Bruce Gellin, director of the National Vaccine Program Office, said the United States awarded a $97 million contract to Pennsylvania-based sanofi pasteur to hasten development of a cell-culture flu vaccine.

The National Institutes of Health this spring started testing a vaccine against H5N1.

"There is a lot more to do," Gellin said. "I actually think a lot has happened."

ANTIVIRALS

These drugs will likely also be in short supply. Of the available antivirals, Tamiflu - the generic is oseltamivir - appears to be the only one effective in treating the avian flu strain now circulating in Asia, Fishman said.

But the United States is far behind other nations in stockpiling antivirals.

The federal government last year bought 2.3 million flu treatments to stockpile from the drug´s maker, Roche. By comparison, the United Kingdom has requested 14.6 million treatment courses to cover 25 percent of its population, he said. France has asked for 13 million doses to treat 20 percent of its citizens.

Roche is planning to start producing Tamiflu in this country this fall, a Roche spokesman said.

SURGE CAPACITY

Everything from face masks to hospital beds will be hard to get. "People shouldn´t expect the public-health knights to ride in on white horses from the state or federal level," said New Jersey´s Bresnitz.

Many efforts must be spearheaded locally, he said, such as ensuring that people have enough to eat.

Hospitals will be overwhelmed. "We don´t have enough beds in the Delaware Valley," said John J. Kelly, chief medical officer at Abington Memorial Hospital. "The desire to reduce health-care costs has taken the fat and the meat. We are now down to the bone."

Red alert in China against bird flu

BEIJING, MAY 22: China has sounded a national alert against the spread of the deadly avian flu after laboratory tests have confirmed that the death of some migratory birds recently in west China’s Qinghai province was caused by the H5N1 strain of the bird flu virus.

The Chinese ministry of agriculture (MoA) on Saturday issued the alert, asking the whole country to take emergency measures to curb further spreading of bird flu.

The ministry said the national bird flu reference laboratory confirmed that the latest death of migratory birds in Niannaisuoma village, in Gangcha county of Qinghai province, reported on May 4 was caused by the deadly H5N1 strain of the bird flu virus.

Sources from the MoA confirmed that some migratory birds had been killed by the virus migrated from south-east Asia. So far, there have been no reports of the disease spotted in Qinghai spreading to human beings or fowl.

According to the national bird flu reference laboratory, different from that spreading in China, the bird flu virus detected in south-east Asia is more deadly and possibly contains a gene for human contraction.

To curb the further spread of the deadly bird flu virus, the MoA has asked provincial governments to pay keen attention to the new confirmed cases of migratory birds and to take effective measures to curb possibly spreading the epidemic.

The World Health Organization urged countries to make full haste with pandemic influenza preparations yesterday as it released a report outlining disturbing changes to the H5N1 virus circulating in Asia.

Among the recent findings is evidence the virus´s genetic makeup appears to be altering in a way that may make H5N1 better-adapted for spreading among people.

As well, the report documents a case where the virus showed partial resistance to the main drug the wealthy countries of the world are stockpiling to combat it, oseltamivir. That raises questions about whether an oseltamivir-resistant strain of the virus could propagate and spread. The report notes that scenario, if it were to occur, would have "significant implications for ... H5N1 prevention and control."

WORRISOME PICTURE

A leading infectious-disease expert, Dr. Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, said the evidence in the report is limited, but paints a worrisome picture of a changing pattern of infection and disease in northern Vietnam.

"Do I say that that´s going to mean there´s an impending pandemic? I don´t know that. Does it tell me that ... there´s a growing concern about it? Absolutely."

Evidence in the report was drawn from a recent WHO fact-finding mission to Vietnam and from a meeting of influenza experts in Manila last week.

The WHO admits the implications of the changes in both disease patterns and viral makeup are not fully clear, but suggests the viruses "pose a continuing and potentially growing pandemic threat."

"Based on these concerns and findings, it would be prudent to ... implement or complete pandemic preparatory actions as soon as possible, even if current H5N1 outbreaks in Asia cease or diminish during the summer," it states.

CHANGING PATTERN

In recent weeks, flu experts have been sounding the alarm about the changing pattern of infection in northern Vietnam.

This spring there has appeared to be more clusters of cases, possibly the result of more limited human-to-human spread, and a greater age range of cases. As well, the case fatality rate has dropped - something experts had anticipated would have to happen if H5N1 were to become a pandemic strain.

Some viruses are also showing genetic changes near what´s known as the "receptor binding site" - the point where the invading virus attaches to the cell walls of a host.

Flu viruses made entirely of avian influenza genes don´t tend to bind well to human receptor binding sites. But these changes may indicate the virus is evolving to be a better fit.

Canada´s National Microbiology Laboratory has sent a team of three scientists to Hanoi to help scientists there analyse blood samples from contacts of H5N1 cases. The goal is to try to get a sense of how many have developed antibodies to the virus - a sign they were infected, possibly by human-to-human spread.

The team, led by Dr. Yan Li, chief of the influenza laboratory, left for Hanoi yesterday.

In the local news in Houston, several children tested positive for tuberculosis at one school.

Flu is not the unly illness that is getting worse.
