We were militant. We made lots of enemies, not the least being the members of our own families. We challenged EVERYTHING. There was NO status quo when it came to the truth. Yes, truth was our god. It had absolutely NOTHING to do with free love or free sex, but we made it easier for those who wanted to express themselves in that way. We, ourselves, were FAR MORE conservative than that. A person's VERY THOUGHT PROCESS was the issue. We fought ignorance. We fought slavery in every form--even in the home circle. We exposed everything whether it was politically correct or not. Our commitment was so deep that we would give our lives for it (and some of us did). We were painfully honest and still are. We rejected the love of money and filthy lucre. Nothing on this planet could corrupt us and still doesn't. We went underground. We still are. We look just like you now, but we have not changed except in one area. While we were militant then, we are triumphant now. We don't hold opinions. What we know, WE KNOW. We know what works and what doesn't. We know who IS, and who ISN'T. We instinctively see what is false and what is true, from LONG experience. There are a FEW here who know. If it were not for that, I would have abandoned this place long ago. THEY still care. So do I. I care about the little AC who has a genuine question but is too afraid to expose themselves. I also care about the ones who express ANYTHING on their minds--even if it is just to get a rise out of others. Sometimes you have to get a rise out of someone to see if they are still alive. Even Alice Cooper, that master of theatrical monstrosity knew to "break a heart, break a heart of stone--but whatever you do, don't leave it alone." Truth hurts and is extremely painful. Whether most will admit it or not, EVERYBODY wants the truth. Even way back in the 60's, we knew that what is here now was coming. It was evident even back then that America was lost. We gave up on America and applied ourselves towards HUMANITY. I, myself, worked with children all my life because they could be TAUGHT TO CHANGE THEIR BEHAVIOR AND THOUGHT PROCESSES. Hundreds went on to productive lives and expanded awareness. Even today, it still goes on in a myriad of ways. Do I still have enemies? You bet. Some are deserved, but most are not. Truth is no longer my god. The God of Truth IS. Although I am triumphant as a "hippie", I am now the church militant. ALL of the energy expended as a hippie now is directed toward "the truth as it is in Christ". I rejected this out of hand as a child growing up in a Catholic horror movie. Christianity was THE VERY LAST place I ever looked for truth. I studied ALL the others, and I do mean ALL of them, in detail. I found only half-truths. The FINAL TRUTH took a lifetime to find. When it finally did, all heaven opened up and revealed its majesty and glory. I now know that this is what really made me become a "hippie". HE knew me from the womb, long before I ever knew me. Yeah, I'm still a hippie at heart--six children and 12 grandchildren later. |
