what strikes me as odd is that, in the lot of the heavy metal/death metal/etc fans, (i was once one) there are almost no people who actually has ever done military service in heat. or similar stuff. toughness without ever needing to be tough.

you know, all that 'mayhem and destruction' bullshit is peddled with songs and whatnot, and each and every metal fan pictures himself/herself wielding a two hander sword or axe or something sitting on a hilltop watching the doomsday unfold, with asteroids falling, earth breaking and volcanoes erupting, thunders abound.

much 'tough' jargon and concept.

whereas in reality, in such a mayhem situation all one could do would be to crap his/her pants, and try to find a way to save his/her ass.

going metal is easy with the current life standards - sit in a comfy chair and type and game on the internet while studying and whatnot, practically being a hippie in all respects but the philosophy.
