I just had a VERY interesting lunch...
So, I met my wife and daughter at Ryan's near my office for lunch as we sometimes do.

Nothing out of the ordinary. Typical lunchtime crowd. We got our table and took turns going to the hot-bar. Just as I was starting to eat, about 6 or 7 nicely dressed, older (50's and 60's) men got a table really close to ours.

We live in a fairly small town and I'm not from here, so I don't know (or care) who the local hot-shots are. My wife, however, was born and raised here and she starts whispering who these guys are: Judge so-and-so, Commisioner what's-his-name and a few lawyers.

I could care less about them and their ilk, but she seems to be impressed by socialites. Whatever.

Anyway, after getting salads and chicken or whatever, they started talking. I didn't care about their conversation at all until I heard 'Atlas Shrugged'. Then my ears perked up because I've read that book and I've seen it discussed here several times.

Typical book discussion and it was obvious the majority of the group had read it. Some liked it, some didn't, but one started comparing it to what's going on in the world today. What was really interesting about that is that the rest of them seemed surprised by that statement. One of them in particular was sarcastic about the remark and said, "Oh yeah, just like Bush ushered in 1984".

The one who made the original statement said, "No, you don't get it. The world today is very much like Rand's world in 'Atlas Shrugged' in that there are not many quote unquote 'law-abiding citizens', which keeps you and I in business. The majority of our laws were MEANT to be broken so the people can be kept within the confines of the system. Think about it, if there were no quote-unquote 'Victimless Crimes', we would all be out of work."

At that, I got a little light-headed and wondered if I may be dreaming, because I've been spouting the same thing for years, but to hear it come right out of the horses mouth was a bit surreal.

*Anyway, for me, it was total validation of my feelings toward TPTB and the way they intentionally manipulate the masses and the law to their own ends. This guy said it plain as day. Even more curious was that it was as if the underlings had not even thought about it that way. These are the supposed 'Elite' and they're waking up to it (on the wrong side, sure, but still waking up). Who is pulling their strings?

First time I ever heard the words "victimless crime" was in regaurds to RAP (Restore America Plan). Did they mention anything about that?
"God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787

No, unfortunately. I was hoping something would lead into that, but it was like business as usual for these guys.

I figured that little plan out the first time I was arrested. Misdemeanor possesion. Nothing major, but I got probation and community service and all that goes along with it. What really got me is that they tried and tried to extend everything to keep me on their books. They didn't want me to finish my sentence quickly. They wanted to violate my probation (tried to with drug tests). Anything to keep me in the system. It was like they lost something when I was finished with my sentence.

Indeed, now throw in religion where everyone is supposed to be born guilty and you've got yourself the makings of an insane asylum!!

We are not guilty of a damn thing unless they can make you believe that you are!!

Yeah, but it's not like it's a conspiracy. Most laws get passed out of the need for $$$$. They're nuisance laws like parking fines and 90% of traffic laws. Maybe 10% are there to really save lives and safegaurd our possessions.

Re: I just had a VERY interesting lunch...
Outlaws have long been the heroes in American culture. I think most people now can tell the difference between a good, honest outlaw and a real criminal. One harms others, the other does not (except in defending themselves or others). When the law is just we should obey it, but when the law is unjust I say we break the law. Many good people have gone to prison for doing the right thing, it's not something we should live in fear of.

rich people own jails and prisons, ,dick the old VP, had 2 down south or more,
come on, its the same shit sence humans let merchants and bankers and the churchs rule over the masses,
the idea has allways been that normal people can not rule themselfs nor be "good", so normal people be come sheep for the rich, and they just make the best system they can to rule,
it's really never changed for forever, it's the same sence
"laws" were born, the thing is unless your rich or part of these groups,
you have no right to say wich way laws should go,i fail to see in human history where it say is was anything but rule by the rich classes.

understand as they need to have smarter slave classes,
they need industrial methods to rule, these industrial systems of the 1st world are closed systems and can only be changed from the out side of the country by other 1st world
rich ruled country systems.

i don't see anyone or anything changing these systems unless
they have a world war and that would only be done if one or more of these 1st world rich ruled systems join to attack ,
some other one, it would never come from with in a system.

that said when you read the news and watch movies or games or what ever anymore, they are all made to change people minds so you, fail and are sued or arrested,
the old rule when i was a kid was don't call the cops every one loses,
now and for alot of years now they let people use cell phones and then they are able to arrest may more people,
by traing the normal people to police themselfs and turn in people they see, because they have been trained to believe
it their "job" to do so,
but it dose not make the system more safe , like you found out op, they don't want it "safe", they want it to control
groups by haveing them hate each other, this is
constant reinforced through media and movies ,games ,church's,
but anwaY all of this is in history books and anyone can read about, i do still find it funny that the
teabagger think they will change a system rules as it has allways been ruled,
they have along way to go learn they are being manipulated by media and propaganda as any group threw out histroy has been.
