[link to en.vedur.is] Also the volcano had stopped a period of deflation and began a period of inflation - signs pointing to possibly an increase in eruptive activity. [link to en.vedur.is] That is definately happening now! |

"God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787 |

Roger (OP) User ID: 961537 United States 05/05/2010 11:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Katla was steaming yesterday, steam was coming out of the glacier which it lies under, little pockets of steam was kinda fun to watch it squirt out of the side of the glacier ice. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 925360Yeah we were talking about that in another thread. The steam was about 10 km closer to the camera from where Katla is located though and the source of it is unknown. However, the steam remained all day yesterday during sunlight, about 17 hours. Here is that thread if anyone wants to review it: Thread: KATLA ALERT! Steaming - Venting ??? The steam off the side of Katla's glacier myrdalsjokull is interesting, but still no signs whatsoever of an imminent eruption of Katla. But DAMN! Eyja is erupting like crazy right now. |

It doesnt necessarily need to be high on the Richter scale correct? Please, dis-regard 90% of what I say as pure sarcasm...The rest is conviction...You Decide Which Is Which... Hopefully the clouds move out soon. The weather has not been good for viewing Eyja from the ground cameras lately. That camera is located about 18-19 km to the west-northwest of the eruption. This link shows the 3 Eyja camera locations: [link to ja.is] The Valahnuk cam is down now. It might show some action if it was operational. |
