Today we released Issue One of fear.less magazine, the first online magazine dedicated to stories of overcoming fear.

Are you ready for your fears to tremble in their boots? Are you ready to learn from the inspiring stories of those who have come before you? Are you ready to pay absolutely nothing for it?

Read about Mawi Asgedom as he recounts his journey from Ethiopia to Harvard. The way Mawi keeps his head up above the dark surface of personal tragedy is truly inspiring. He speaks sensitively and with hope. Mawi’s story encapsulates everything we love about fear.less – moving candor and the ability to overcome suffering.

Read about how Alison Wright never gave up – not on her photography career when sometimes the industry made no sense, and not on her dream of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro after surviving a bus crash. Her story will empower you to overcome obstacles and perhaps help change your attitude toward adversity.

Dr. Bernard Lown gives eye-opening perspective on a variety of topics ranging from doubt to death. He worked up the courage to act and through his story, hopefully you’ll be able to as well. Dr. Lown’s story is one of my personal favorites.

We’re honored to share with you Howard Zinn’s take on fear’s role in the American culture and his experience working in the civil rights movement in the 1960s. His recent passing reminds us of the strength, courage, and generosity with which he lived his life.

Danielle LaPorte’s story is an observation on the relationship between fear and our economy, and a recalling of an ultimately triumphant personal journey by a woman who I greatly admire.

I feel that there is no wrong way to read Fear.less. If you are suddenly invigorated and driven to buy a lasso and start grabbing life by the horns, that’s great. If you need to sit down for a while and quietly digest it and perhaps rotate the kaleidoscope of your perspective, that’s great too. I have felt both of these.

There is a lot of pain, doubt, sadness and pessimism in the world. I have felt it, you have felt it, our contributors have felt it. That’s why this launch is exciting. This is a message that we believe in. We think these stories can empower people to chip away at their fears. Fear.less is something we’ve put our heart into and allowed to challenge and change us, so sharing it with you is pretty exciting.
