OP - I was just listening to CNBC talking about the possibility of a big bear market in bonds and was reminded of this quatrain from Nosti', so I thought I would give your thread a bump.

There is no doubt about you all on GLP - long may this forum live. After listening to CNBC I wondered whether this quatrain had ever been discussed here and I wasn't disappointed. The site is a huge source for information. Congratulations GLP.

In answer to your question, yes indeed it could happen.

When I read about how the Swiss National Bank has printed money to the extent of its GDP to try and weaken currency, anything is possible.

When I hear former Federal reserve Chairman Mr Ben Bernanke say "if the debt ceiling is not raised there will be a collapse and huge default on debt anything is possible.

Geopolitically things are very tense too. Politics is constrained by the financial markets. The possibility of war between Japan and China is lessened because China holds too many American bonds. Indeed anything is possible.

No wonder the big money keeps buying bonds. They are better protection in a crash than gold say? Gold is sold in a crash to pay for other losses.

What if bonds and stocks crash together? Anything is possible and Nosti' will be correct.
