Just blow the mother fucker now before it gets bigger. At least they can then do smaller controlled explosions as it builds up.

They can't find it! I came down here last night, and found out a friend took some reporter people out one day, all day this week to look for this oil that's about to hit.. they couldn't find any traces of it any where. Nothing! WEIRD.... went 70 something miles out around, and all over off the coast,
Don't get me wrong, glad/thankful to hear it, but something just don't sound/look right..
 Quoting: ceawaves

Huh? Please explain what you are talking about:
1) Can't find...what exactly?
2) What oil that is about to be hit?
3) Are you talking about the oil slick not being out there? 4) Or are you talking about the hole on the floor the oil is coming out of not being found?

Thank you for any explanation you can give us here.

Another Craptastic post ;) thumbs
Patiently waiting for confirmation. If this is true an unchecked runaway methane volcano would be serious doom.
 Quoting: Resister

Stagnant water may have unexpected dangers. We already know that certain volcanic lakes can burst forth in clouds of choking gas. Now someone suggests that the ocean itself could erupt in explosive gas under the right—make that the wrong conditions.

The bursting lakes are Nyos and Monoun, in the central African nation of Cameroon. They occupy the craters of volcanoes, and the magma beneath them steadily leaks carbon dioxide gas into their deep waters. Many lakes in the tropics are stagnant (or meromictic), and over the years the bottom waters of Nyos and Monoun grow supercharged with gas. In 1984 something disturbed Monoun's balance, and like a champagne bottle uncorked, the lake erupted in a thick froth of carbon dioxide. The dense gas flowed over the crater wall and down the mountainside, suffocating 37 people. In 1986 Nyos did the same, killing some 1700.

Imagine such a thing happening to a whole ocean. Gregory Ryskin has done that, and it's worse than you imagine.

Ryskin is a professor at Northwestern University, where he teaches chemical engineering. On his Web site he notes, "I became interested in geology and geophysics a few years ago." Putting together two facts, he built a grim picture.

The first fact is that the seafloor continuously leaks methane, the same thing we burn as natural gas. Some comes from serpentinization and some from the action of microbes. As the bubbles rise, the gas dissolves into the deep seawater, where oxygen and microbes in the water consume it.

The second fact is that at times in Earth history, the ocean currents have failed to stir the deepest waters. That's true today of the entire Black Sea, for instance. At other times, whole ocean basins have stagnated. Conditions there quickly become anoxic as the oxygen in the water disappears.

Ryskin asked what would happen to that gas in a stagnant ocean basin. His answer, in the September 2003 Geology, is an oceanic eruption driven by explosive methane. The scenario is horrifying in several ways.

Enough methane dissolves in deep, cold water (about 0.4 percent by molar volume) if that water were to rise, the gas would come out of solution and create a mist whose volume is seven times greater than pure water. The resulting eruption would quickly spread and release the whole ocean basin's worth of natural gas in great clouds. These would inevitably ignite. The amounts of gas would be enormous, and the worldwide fires and explosions would be catastrophic. Even the formation of fullerene compounds, now considered a sure sign of asteroid impacts, is plausible. Land organisms would suffer mass extinction.

In the ocean, the eruption of sterile, anoxic water would smother sea life, and the stirred-up sediment—and more washing in from the burned-over continents—would kill more. So there would be Strangelove oceans and marine mass extinctions, too. Finally, the atmosphere would fill with soot and carbon dioxide, and a full-fledged climate crisis would result. And the deep sea would start right over again, building up methane for the next burst. Only the slow shift of continents would change the sea's configuration so that deep currents could resume.

This spectacular story will be tested against the geologic record, but Ryskin hints that the human record may be relevant. The kind of methane eruption he describes could happen on a smaller scale in places like the Black Sea or lesser basins. If people witnessed one, they might describe it much like the epic of Gilgamesh, in which the land was flooded, burned, shrouded in darkness and "shattered like a pot." They might also come up with the ominous words of Genesis: "All the fountains of the great deep burst forth."

PS: Lakes Nyos and Monoun are fixed now: large floating pipes tap the gas-charged deep waters, which rise up in a self-sustaining fountain. By venting the gas, the pipes prevent eruptions. See for yourself. Something like them ought to be possible for Ryskin's methane eruptions.

hadn't "they" just about decided that the weird stuff that goes on in the Bermuda Triangle, is a result of methane escaping from the ocean floor..that the methane rises to the surface and engulfs whatever it encounters, which then unbalances floating ships and even planes as it rises out of the water and into the air...this situation in the Gulf is one very frightening situation...I've worked to save oil slicked birds/animals...not a fun thing to do or see...

I've only seen a few animals with "supposed" crude oil on them....where are all the DEAD SEA CRITTERS?

Eighteen days...still WAITING? Not that I WANT this to happen, just getting more curious about the DELAY.

And, will SOMEBODY explain WHY the crap leaking out is RED?!

I've heard the following hypotheses...

Dispersant
Depth of leak
Type of crude
Sunlight refraction

B.S.!!!

Fossil fuels are BLACKISH....ever seen any RED COAL?

METHANE EXPLOSION WARMED THE PREHISTORIC EARTH, POSSIBLE AGAIN

A tremendous release of methane gas frozen beneath the sea floor heated the Earth by up to 13 degrees Fahrenheit (7 degrees Celsius) 55 million years ago, a new NASA study confirms. NASA scientists used data from a computer simulation of the paleo-climate to better understand the role of methane in climate change. While most greenhouse gas studies focus on carbon dioxide, methane is 20 times more potent as a heat-trapping gas in the atmosphere.

A period of global warming, called the Late Paleocene Thermal Maximum (LPTM), occurred around 55 million years ago and lasted about 100,000 years. Current theory has linked this to a vast release of frozen methane from beneath the sea floor, which led to the earth warming as a result of increased greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

When methane (CH4) enters the atmosphere, it reacts with molecules of oxygen (O) and hydrogen (H), called OH radicals. The OH radicals combine with methane and break it up, creating carbon dioxide (CO2) and water vapor (H2O), both of which are greenhouse gases. Scientists previously assumed that all of the released methane would be converted to CO2 and water after about a decade. If that happened, the rise in CO2 would have been the biggest player in warming the planet. But when scientists tried to find evidence of increased CO2 levels to explain the rapid warming during the LPTM, none could be found.

Re: BREAKING - Gulf Oil Spill is Releasing Methane - I said it then and now is confirmed 5000:1
Methane (CH4) is a greenhouse gas that remains in the atmosphere for approximately 9-15 years. Methane is over 20 times more effective in trapping heat in the atmosphere than carbon dioxide (CO2) over a 100-year period and is emitted from a variety of natural and human-influenced sources. Human-influenced sources include landfills, natural gas and petroleum systems, agricultural activities, coal mining, stationary and mobile combustion, wastewater treatment, and certain industrial process.

Methane is also a primary constituent of natural gas and an important energy source. As a result, efforts to prevent or utilize methane emissions can provide significant energy, economic and environmental benefits. In the United States, many companies are working with EPA in voluntary efforts to reduce emissions by implementing cost-effective management methods and technologies.

On 5 February 2010, a vulcanian explosion simultaneously propelled pyroclastic flows down several sides of the mountain, and on 11 February 2010, a partial collapse of the lava dome sent large ash clouds. Many methane leak from underwater are reported near the island.

"SPONTANEOUS IGNITION OF PRESSURIZED RELEASES OF HYDROGEN AND NATURAL GAS INTO AIR

Abstract
"This paper demonstrates the “spontaneous ignition” (autoignition/inflammation and sustained diffusive combustion) from sudden compressed hydrogen releases that is not well documented in the present literature, for which little fundamental explanation, discussion or research foundation exists, and which is apparently not encompassed in recent formulations of safety codes and standards for piping, storage, and use of high pressure compressed gas systems handling hydrogen. Accidental or intended, rapid failure of a pressure boundary separating sufficiently compressed hydrogen from air can result in multi-dimensional transient flows involving shock formation, reflection, and interactions such that reactant mixtures are rapidly formed and achieve chemical ignition, inflammation, and transition to turbulent jet diffusive combustion, fed by the continuing discharge of hydrogen. Both experiments and simple transient shock theory along with chemical kinetic ignition calculations are used to support interpretation of observations and qualitatively identify controlling gas properties and geometrical parameters. Although the phenomenon is demonstrated for pressurized hydrogen burst disk failures with different internal flow geometries, similar phenomena apparently do not necessarily occur for sudden boundary failures of storage vessel or transmission piping into open air that have no downstream obstruction. However, subsequent reflection of the resulting transient shock from surrounding surfaces through mixing layers of hydrogen and air may have the potential for producing ignition and continuing combustion. Much more experimental and computational work is required to quantitatively determine the envelope of parameter combinations that mitigate or enhance spontaneous ignition characteristics of compressed hydrogen as a result of sudden release, particularly if hydrogen is to become a major energy carrier interfaced with consumer use. Similar considerations for compressed methane, for mixtures of light hydrocarbons and methane (simulating natural gas), and for larger carbon number hydrocarbons show similar autoignition phenomena may occur with highly compressed methane or natural gas, but are unlikely with higher carbon number cases, unless the compressed source and/or surrounding air is sufficiently pre-heated above ambient temperature. Spontaneous ignition of compressed hydrocarbon gases is also generally less likely, given the much lower turbulent blow-off velocity of hydrocarbons in comparison to that for hydrogen.

This is in response to SHR who knows the first law of thermodynamics, cut and pasted of course, but has no idea why the rig caught on fire.

Now, as to why there are 3 oil leaks:

Here is why:

There are "two underwaterpipelines near the rig which have been shut down for fear that they might be hit by the sinking oil rig." Two underwater pipelines plus the one they were drilling equals three. Three oil leaks. nyha ha ha.

Actually, the oil rig didn't hit them, they probably were ttorn open by the force of the blowout.

So much for their riser story, huh? [link to mobile.latimes.com]

This is for the moron who just keeps going on about the depth of the well.

The seabed is 5,000 feet below the surface of the water. That is one mile.
They claim to have been drilling at 18,000 feet below the level of the seabed (a worker claimed more like 20+) that is something like 4 miles below the seabed, which is what I said.

I know you are just trying to shut this thread down because you are scared. You're scared that I'm saying things that might get you into trouble, or just cause trouble, so you have to try, in some retarded way, to discredit what I'm saying. But, I'm right.

Everything that you have been told about this is a huge lie. There was is nothing left intact under that oilrig after the blowout. There is no wellhead. There's nothing but a hole spewing oil and gas. All the crap about submarines fixing things is pure bullshit.

Did you ever wonder how they could possible see anything at a depth of 5,000 feet underwater in a sea that was filled with spewing oil? Oil. There had been oil spewing out of that location for at least four days before they acknowledged it. They had no way to know it was happening because there was no possible way in hell that they could see anything in those oil filled waters. The rig was holding 700,000 gallons of diesel oil in pontoons. They didn't know if what they were seeing on the surface was from the rig or from the well. They couldn't be sure for two days after it sank when they oil slick just kept growing. There is and never has been anything that could be manipulated below the surface of the water, but even if there was, they couldn't possibly find it visually in the thickly oiled waters.

My posts sure scare the hell out of you though don't they?

Guess I'm probably get banned again soon. Booga Booga."

It has been publically released today, Methane pocket is what caused the rig to explode.

Two things come to mind and both are bad news.

(1) It is a cover story. Which means the truth is serious enough to hide.

(2) The Methane Story is true. This means the spill has been releasing methane as well.

It would explain the Coast Guards ban over the Gulf of Mexico. Fears of sparking an explosion.

Methane is highly explosive in its gas state mixed with oxygen. The methane in the reserve is probably in a liquid state due to the pressures.

Just how much methane is being released? That is a crucial question. Enough can create an explosion so large it would shock the world. The size of the natural methane 'bomb' is only limited to how much methane can be released before it is ignited by lightning or other source of spark.

This is no laughing matter as scientists know methane explosions have happen before and can be very, very large. Thousands of times in magnitude of the largest nuclear bomb built by the Russians.

So, the big question is, just how much methane is being released. If the rig was destroyed by a methane pocket, how much methane is down there?

The effort to place a containment dome over a gushing wellhead was dealt a setback when a large volume of hydrates - crystals formed when gas combines with water - accumulated inside of the vessel, BP's chief operating officer said Saturday.

The dome was moved off to the side of the wellhead and is resting on the seabed while crews work to overcome the challenge, Doug Settles said.

This confirms a large amount of Methane Hydrate is flooding from the well. This is bad, very, very bad. VERY BAD!!!

An invisible threat lies dormant at the bottom of our sea, a frightening gas that causes death and destruction whenever it escapes the ocean floor; it is methane. Methane is an incredibly powerful fuel which could
devastate our planet by setting the atmosphere literally on fire with a single spark, like that from a bolt of lightning. A methane explosion would change the world into a fiery ball of death, a literal hell on earth.

What is Methane?
Methane is a fuel created biologically by decaying biological material. It is found in the ocean on the seafloor in a frozen form intermingled with water. This is called methane hydrate, a dormant form of methane that is of a condensed volume. When the methane hydrate melts, it reacts with oxygen and increases its volume over 150 times in size, and the gas is more powerful than the fossil fuels we use today. But more than 350 miles under the sea, the methane hydrate is relatively harmless. The volume that can be found is the scary part, which is over eighty-thousand times natural gas reserves, at two-hundred-thousand-trillion cubic feet.

Well yeah, unless you're stupid enough to drill that deep looking for oil.
Given that the dome they tried to use built up with hydrates, reiteration seemed in order.

Thats why theres no large slick dispite a high flow rate. It's mostly gasses coming out of the well. Thats why theyre not allowing the well to be filmed from above. Theyve punctured the barrier thats been holding this gas back and like popping a balloon with a pinprick, it doesnt take much. WHat youd expect is for the escaping gasses to gradually erode around the well casing and blow the well completely out. Theyve fucked up big time, what they thought was oil was a deposit of methane hydrate

Apparently, from the many articles about it, methane deposits are always expected when one drills for oil, since the two go hand in hand.

These deposits are one of the primary reasons for all the fail safe systems.

What appears different this time was the size of the well. With literally billions of barrels to be had, this well was the largest ever found. They must have known the risk of a LARGE pool of methane coming along with it. And no doubt thought they were ready for it.

I read of an interview with one of the people on the deck at the time. He said that the failsafes appeared to have been turned off.

There is no way that this was not sabotage. The timing is too perfect. I have to agree with those here who think this was an opportunity just waiting to happen. The Nazis have nothing to lose. There were many opportunities:
1) Halliburton was involved. nuf said. Cheney is one of the Nazi Princes.
2) There was a surprise 'inspection' just two days prior by the EPA(?)...anyway, The Feds. Normally one man might come on board. And even that is so very rare. This time a whole team showed up. A shipload. And went about their business. And left.
3) the Sorcha Fall Korean scenario.
4) Anyone who was afraid the control of oil was going to shift to the Brits. hmmmmm...

Now for the timing:
1) This happened the same day that Obama's affair was revealed in two rags. Story immediately disappeared with this event.
2) The Nazis NWO is on its deathbed. Its Mafiosa has its back to the wall and the entire world is pointing M-16s at their heads. (they don't have hearts)
3) Return America Plan is making headway in government offices and courts all over this country. Military is firmly behind it. The bad guys have got to stop it. How do you keep a 'government' no matter how corrupt, in office? Create a crisis bigger than their corruption.

And there you have it...
Take your pick. Or choose all of the above.
There is more but it gets too woo woo for most folks...
