Quoting: Anonymous Coward 959446The blowout preventer failed, plus there is questions about the cementing job of Halliburton, as the same thing happened last here off Australia when Halliburon cemented a well and it was disclosed the poor cementing job caused it. Hey, I got news for you, Haliburton had nothing to do with it. They mixed and pumped concrete that's it. And if BP wants to dump a shit load of concrete again, guess who is gonna mix it and pump it. That's right so get over it. It's all 100% BP's fault quit spreading bullshit. . |
Me114 User ID: 596184 United States 05/10/2010 11:32 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It has all happened too fast. Nobody who is a real superstar when it comes to thinking, has had a real chance to figure this all out. It is 'happening as we speak' so whatever happens, happens. If it can't be contained and if there are methane issues then we could all be FUBARED.. Massive amounts of people moving away from The Gulf, possible HUGE methane explosions, inevitable oil contaminations, toxic fumes, not to even mention the death of so many species of sealife. Weather concerns, with the coming hurricane season, financial concerns with the fishing industry, the trickle down effect on the US economy and world economies, etc. This could be DOOM like we have never seen before. Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 901059 United States 05/20/2010 08:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well, debunkers are always asking woo-hoos to admit when they are wrong./ Now, in this case I am asking debunkers to admit they were wrong. Often enough many people said the amount of methane release was minor to near zero. "Just a pocket..." and "typical to see methane bubbles but that is it..." Well, own up boys! Cause methane is pouring out in surprisingly high levels. |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 901059 United States 05/20/2010 08:31 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So explain the claims of conducting limited "burn-offs" of crude in the vicinity of the leak? Wouldn't that be STUPID with a methane leak of that caliber in close proximity? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 963621HELLO!? You were wrong. HELLO!?..... |

doc snow User ID: 987652 United States 05/31/2010 10:58 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You guys can chill a bit. Methane dissolves in water, so little of it is likely to reach the surface. Lucky, since "fuel-air explosions" are at least possible, and according to this story, about 7.5 kilotons of methane have been released so far. [link to www.instadv.ucsb.edu] |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 700610 United Kingdom 07/05/2010 06:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | UPDATE: Quoting: ºCRAPºThe effort to place a containment dome over a gushing wellhead was dealt a setback when a large volume of hydrates - crystals formed when gas combines with water - accumulated inside of the vessel, BP's chief operating officer said Saturday. The dome was moved off to the side of the wellhead and is resting on the seabed while crews work to overcome the challenge, Doug Settles said. This confirms a large amount of Methane Hydrate is flooding from the well. This is bad, very, very bad. VERY BAD!!! END UPDATE It has been publically released today, Methane pocket is what caused the rig to explode. Two things come to mind and both are bad news. (1) It is a cover story. Which means the truth is serious enough to hide. (2) The Methane Story is true. This means the spill has been releasing methane as well. It would explain the Coast Guards ban over the Gulf of Mexico. Fears of sparking an explosion. Methane is highly explosive in its gas state mixed with oxygen. The methane in the reserve is probably in a liquid state due to the pressures. Just how much methane is being released? That is a crucial question. Enough can create an explosion so large it would shock the world. The size of the natural methane 'bomb' is only limited to how much methane can be released before it is ignited by lightning or other source of spark. This is no laughing matter as scientists know methane explosions have happen before and can be very, very large. Thousands of times in magnitude of the largest nuclear bomb built by the Russians. So, the big question is, just how much methane is being released. If the rig was destroyed by a methane pocket, how much methane is down there? |

Yah I thought of this not long after hearing about the well blowout. The thunder sounds different these days. One of these days a large methane pocket is going to be ignited by lightning. Plus there is only so much methane the Gulf of Mexico can hold before it has to go into the atmosphere, related to water temperatures. You do realize the whole earth will heat up from all this methane being released, which will melt permafrost releasing more methane which will heat the Pacific ocean which will release more methane.
