It's happened to me in the past and is infuriating. I am guessing you need to remove something from your PC, but I don't know enough about 'puters to tell you what.

ROFL, OP, I feel for you! The problem I had, was location. Living too close to a AM broadcasting station! I didn't need a radio. The broadcast came over the phone, stereo speakers and laptop speakers.

All you can do is shield the equipment. Talk to a tech at Radio Shack or HAM radio operator, call the FCC or the offending station. By law, if they are causing interference, the have to do everything reasonable to stop the interference. I just moved out of the apartment complex.

Good Luck!

Wrong. On the back of almost every electronic device is a disclaimer that states it must accept any interference but not create it. Radio stations come over barb wire fences in some locations. I'm afraid the FCC will tell you it is your responsibility to pay for the fix, since the radio station is licensed to broadcast in a certain pattern and power range.

Wrong.

You cannot interfere with other peoples radio, tv, telphones, etc, with your radio station.

Part 97, FCC rules.

FCC can fine the offending station if they (the FCC) determine that you (the offending transmitter), are responsible.

Any HAM operator knows this, it's on the test.

If you turn the computer off and disconnect the power and the problem continues, you need professional help. (or a better tinfoil hat)

No, but my car radio did this. It was turned off and set to an FM country station when it started to pick up a Mexican radio station. FREAKED me out when I turned the car on and there were VOICES I could barely hear...LOL. None of the dials were working...couldn't change the volume or the station and the "off" dial showed it was off. When I finally tracked it down I figured it was a short or a loose wire and ignored it. Until the time it suddenly blared out "Viva Mexico"...the Mexican National Anthem...at FULL volume. If you don't know "Viva Mexico" it has lots of trumpets...sounds like bull-fighting music.

some ads on websites now are playing sound files but not video. I think the new flash updates for flash video have allowed for this.

The cure might be to totally remove this version of flash and install the older version, if you can find a safe copy of it. However, some flash sites might not play their videos if you do this.

In other words, welcome to the future of, "Yeah, we screwed you big time, so live with it, besides, what's so bad about a commercial or two?"

Sometimes web browsers are on in a hidden state. Firefox sometimes does this.

If in Windows, right click your task bar and open task manager. Look for programs running that should be turned off, or if you find one you are not familiar with, google the name of that task, find out more about it, and if it is a bad program, google how to get rid of it, but try to do it without downloading some new anti-virus program, many new ones are bad programs in disguise.

Re: Anyobody have sound/commercials coming out of their computer speakers even if nothing is running???
I am having a Lysol commercial that replays thru speakers. I had been hearing something so had to turn them allll the way up to hear what they are saying. They are saying-- to the effect -- over 200,000 people are hospitalized every year with flu-complications, including youngchildren.... It's important to follow CDC guidlines...... - Washing hands and help protect your family with Lysol. --- Then silence -- Then the commercial replays. I have no browsers open and just ran a viru scan with Norton 360. Computer was rebooted, but this still continues. Not sure what to do. I think it is affecting my internet speed.
