The question nobody is asking about this oil spill in the gulf...
So, for years and years, we have been warned about peak oil... we have been told that the oil is running out...

And NOW we are being told that the oil spill will cover the entire Gulf of Mexico in less than 4 months...

The QUESTION is... WHERE did all this oil come from? How many dinosaurs does it take to produce enough oil to cover the entire Gulf of Mexico in less time than it takes to conclude a court case?

This is not a lot of oil in terms of peak oil or anything like that, but the oil slick is very thin and spreads out very easily

I don't believe oil is a fossil fuel. It's a substance that the earth is constantly producing.

It is, but to put things in perspective...

20,680,370 Barrels of oil are consumed per day, by the U.S.

So while a lot of oil is leaking from the ocean, you can see that it's not a lot in terms of how much the world is chugging

Of course oil is produced by a abiotic process ... in Europe we learn that in the 2nd year in school ... and that abiotic process takes hundreds of thousands of years ... that's why every school-kid knows that oil is a fossil fuel.

taken from live science....
[link to www.livescience.com]

But with gas prices spiking more than $1 per gallon in the United States this year and some experts predicting that the end of oil is near, scientists still don't know for sure where oil comes from, how long it took to make, or how much there is.

A so-called fossil fuel, petroleum is believed by most scientists to be the transformed remains of long dead organisms. The majority of petroleum is thought to come from the fossils of plants and tiny marine organisms. Larger animals might contribute to the mix as well.

Looks like all that education the scientists have really helped out in determining how oil is formed.

Think about it. All the billions of barrels we've already pumped out doesn't begin to equal all the supposed life that ever existed, not to mention the exact circumstances it takes for oil to be formed from life past. The numbers don't add up. Fossil fuel is only a small percentage of what the earth produces naturally. Oh, your're a stupid fucker.

Oil companies perpetrate the dinosoar-bone myth to create an illusion of scarcity. I've heard it said about: 1. This gulf deposit 2. Faulkland Islands 3. South Dakota, each have more oil than Saudi Arabia!

Hey, just a question here...

You DO know that the theory has plants as the primary source of oil, not dinosaurs, right?

Because if you don't know that, then your theory makes much more sense.

If you have to look at the situation as being due to plant matter, of which there has always been so much more, then it becomes harder to defend.

Still, the people to ask on this are not GLP'ers but Geologists.

What do they think is going on with all this oil?

They may not be right, but they are the ones that have studied it in depth and have to back their theories up, right?

20,680,370 x 365 = 7,548,335,050

Let's say we have been using oil at that rate for.... 50 years....

That comes out to be roughly 350 trillion barrels of oil...

And THAT is just America....

Explain how THAT much oil is produced by pine trees, ferns, and Barney the Dinosaur.

And while you are number-crunching... Explain how other heavenly bodies in our solar system have so-called 'fossil' fuels in their atmosphere.
