If they can't stop it, when will the world demand that it be sealed permanently with a nuke? Will BP fight to the end to keep it open, so they can recoup their losses while it produces destruction on a biblical scale? Will it come down to burning every BP station and besieging their corporate offices?

Was at the beach today on Manasota Key in SWFL, and I didn't smell any oil. It was very beautiful. Got there at slack tide, and it was almost surreal. Very calm and relaxing.

It's a bad situation...very bad...from what I understand there is a "New leak" at the top of the Blow Out Protector where the riser couples on and apparently it's bent over...this was probably inevitable as the rush of oil and gas erodes the whole well connection system away...from what I also can see...BP has about plans A-...to well..until...the whole thing tears apart and they just get more and more risky as it goes...

A was the larger containment Macondome....that failed because the gas formed hydrates/ice crystals and clogged it. They underestimated the amount of the gas in the flow...for some reason the brain that ran the Blow out protector which could sense all that was a dead stick....BP recovered it and was attempting to re-program repair it last I heard...

B is this "Top Hat" deal...just a smaller version of the dome which they will also blast methanol down into to stop the formation of ice...both of these are spill/loss mitigation, they do nothing to stop the well from from blowing out oil...

C Would be this "Junk Shot"...where they attempt to blast a bunch of junk into the Blow Out protector and clog it up...

D would be to chop off the upper portion of the bop stack at the riser connection and install a new blow out protector on top of the old one..then shut it off...

All through the whole thing I assume they have attempted to activate the giant rams that could shut it down...all attempts have failed...

I read a detailed account from someone who apparently was there...it would seem the AP has confirmed that much of it is indeed true...it was an e-mail sent around to some industry insider type people and it details pretty well what happened and the writer wished to remain anon....I'll post it, but it pretty much confirms what most of have said, just in more detail....

The bottom is that this is a wild animal now....and it's getting more and more angry and smashing at it's cage and bolts are starting to get loose and bars are starting to bend....the writer fears that even if BP can stop the flow at the blow out protector that the well system itself is so damaged that it is possible the connection of that massive blow out protector would just shred itself off it's connection before the well control guys can pump enough cement and high density "mud" down the well bore and stop it up below the sea floor....and likely IMO that area already MUST be damaged, but that if it blows out around that connection area?....the whole thing comes unglued and wide...fuckin...open....then NOTHING will stop it except the relief wells....and those will take months to drill...

BP is doing all they can right now...but I assume they are very afraid this whole this may cut loose...if that happens....this will be the worst case scenerio...

I do believe they are very tentative about taking high risk shots at killing this thing that have a greater chance of causing that....but they are running out of time....when they get to the junk shot and placing the new bop on this thing....they are going balls out at it because these are risky moves...the new bop far more risky than the junk clogger...because to do that?....they have to literally saw the pipe connection off the thing and the pipe is restricting the flow now...so it's going to be spewing a whole lot more oil and gas when they do that because it'll be very near wide open...

Surely a time traveller from the future can tell us what to do...oh wait, perhaps we don't make it that far into the future and we extinct ourselves before we can discover time travel.....that puts paid to the time travelling barstards on GLP then
