Take the higher estimate of 4 billion barrels.. x 42 for gallons (US) 168 billion gallons of oil.

Even at 480 million gal a day that would take 340+ days to empty.

Although I can't realistically see it at 480 million gallons a day. 2 million gallons an hour could be more appropriate, but still doesn't sound right, so I'll settle at 5% for 24 million gallons a day but even that is over 570000 barrels a day.

That seems illogical. If that many gallons were draining out of the gulf daily the spill size would be bigger, and it would lose pressure much faster.

Any bends under the seafloor are soo gradual it would be a minor change in flow. The drills can't make sharp angle turns. And the leak has been known to be coming from the seafloor now.

And if not, it will be soon with that much pressure behind it. It will be oil and sand blasted wide open real soon if not already.

and 480 million/day is the low estimate. It is over 2 billion gal/day on higher estimates.

Suppose that is what will happen soon. There is a few miles between the seafloor and the oil reserve. And the reserve isn't open like a balloon, it is partitioned or chaotic honeycomb structure type. Pressure release will turn into the seafloor sinking but who knows when.
