The Old SF Mint Has Masonic Symbology In Building Details

Currently the old San Francisco mint building is closed for a complete renovation. Built in 1874, this solid "Granite Lady" withstood the great SF earthquake of 1906 and at one time held 1/3 of all the gold reserves of the United States government. The building also contains scatterings of Masonic symbology in the details that went into it's construction. But, after all: it WAS a federal building, so why should we be that surprised?

Currently, the San Francisco Chronicle is running an online story that details the renovation, complete with 41 pictures of the building itself. Take a good look at picture #38. It shows an ornate brass doorknob cast with the images of a Scales, the Masonic square and below, a Key. Just another example of how completely this old order of control and domination has permeated [and still DOES today] our nation for centuries.
