Quoting: Anonymous Coward 969400No, but if Katrina was Bush's fault then this is Obama's fault. Obama doesn't like white people. They should take the warning labels off of everything and let stupidity sort itself out. |

The government goon squads showed up to police the area earlier and give our hero a chance. But now he has failed and is asking for more time. All of our technology has failed us! But the government egg heads are now on the case. Then we cut to a clip of the oil still seaping out of the whole in the earth MORE THAN 1 MILE BELOW THE SERVICE duh duh duuuuuh! As we speak tables are being pulled together and assistants are running up and down dim lit hallways gathering figures and data. Zany ideas are flying off the table and out of the room for real world feasibility analysis! Will the egg heads come up with a plan in time? Will our hero succeed in saving us all? Or has certian doom found us again? |

If they made it with valves in the end that can be closes after it has been fitted the pressure shouldn't become a problem. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 969734Well now that would be a great idea, i'm sure they never thought of it! Do ANY of you people realize you CANNOT do stinking tool work next to leaking methane. Many of the common fixes that most of you think of are sound in your mind only due to the fact you have no knowledge of facts. I for one am glad INTELLIGENT SCIENTIST are the ones looking at fixes and not you. If the highly pressurized methane ignites we are screwed because it probably wouldn't remain a blowout fire. In other words big freakin boom. The option they may be considering is a blast that will seal it without igniting it. So lets recap... Not able to work on the pipe or big boom. Can't seal it with a bottle top cause it freezes over too quickly. If we can't touch it due to volitility what other options would we have? Why do you think they tried a concrete topper? Lowering someting steel creates static electricity through vibration in cables and such... big problem. Perhaps a think tank instead of statements of ideas that couldn't work is a good idea! |

Bluebird User ID: 730536 United States 05/14/2010 01:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Obama signed a waiver of regulations for his campaign contributor BP. BP has contributed more to Obama than to any other political candidate and there has even been a thread to that effect here. And this happened April 20, almost a month ago. Meanwhile, Obama hasn't done shit to stop this. His FEMA/DHS didn't even have one fire boom located on the Gulf! That's considered one of the first lines of defense in the case of such disasters but not even an option here because of no fire booms! So I have to ask why the big delay in doing anything until now? Guess this is supposed to really teach us a lesson about off-shore drilling, huh? Next time we will listen when Dear Leader tells us something is not good, right? All so convenient! Guess now Dear Leader will just be forced to nationalize the oil industry as he already has so many others from banking to healthcare. Of course, Dear Leader only does these things with our best interest at heart and not out of unbridled greed and lust for power and control of every aspect of this economy. How anyone can continue to support this corrupt administration is just beyond me. One of the most important aspects of conspiracy theories is being able to discern when there isn't one. Oh yeah, like you'd understand anyway. Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?. . .J. Handy |

A-bomb developement, Mars mining, precision biological technologies...all need some form of security clearance in one way or another. Tells us the spill is REAL BAD and also says the attempts to stop the oil well is going into classified technologies. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 936373Obama just gave a press conference and had pretty harsh words for all of the above...and for 10 years of Federal Govt. policy that allowed for drilling without permits. So, he is bringing in big guns outside of big oil. GOOD. Really hope it isn't too little too late. If Obama had any idea of the low intelligence within the oil industry he would have does this on April 23rd. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 970211Why hasn't the Government interfered after it was very obvious that BP is unable to fix the problem? a couple of possible answers: tptb are absolute maniacs with an agenda to turn the Gulf of Mexico into a dead zone, thereby fully approved for any/all future drilling. tptb dropped the ball and under estimated the enormity of the situation. I totally agree, the lack of tptb running roughshod over BP after the first week of their OBVIOUS INCOMPETENCE is completely unacceptable. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 901059 United States 05/14/2010 02:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We all know this will end with a controlled nuclear explosion, like the Russians did many time in the past to control such catastrophic event. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 970616Makes sense. The only problem though is the wells proximity to land and the bomb would need to be on the seafloor or atleast close enough. I wonder what the minimum size nuclear bomb would be needed. Since the bomb would be on the floor, the shockwave will carry a tsunami to the shorelines, easily. In fact, there will be a double shockwave ripping through the water. One from the bomb and the other being a seafloor reflection. The massive displacement of water will definately create a tsunami. No doubts. We all know nukes were detonated in the Pacific but that was far from the seafloor so the wave created could dissipate before reaching shore. A much different situation for the Gulf. Plus the well head is in a valley of sorts. In fact, I wonder if they could cause a large landslide to roll on top of the well head(s). Though, that too would create a massive tsunami. Either way, I think the Gulf Coasts are going to be hit hard. Think of it this way, if you had a choice... The Worlds Oceans or the Gulf Shores. Doom for sure! |
