Pollutants are measured by concentrations in parts per million, what he's saying is, that dispersed evenly in the gulf waters the spill would be virtually undetectable, and hes right again. But leaks nomatter what their source alwys start out in a specific location and gradually spread out. The amount of water in the gulf of mexico is trillions of times as big as the volume of the spill, and millions of times the volume of the deposit.

But the spill is not evenly dispersed over the entire Gulf and the location of the spill has everything to do with it's impact.

Certainly far, far more than the average concentration level.

It only takes a few tar balls to ruin and entire oyster bed for a decade or more.


So since this is THE top guy at BP and he thinks it's no big deal, perhaps we should be allowed to unleash the equivalent spill just off the coast of Britain's best beaches and see how tiny it is then!
