Kurtzweil talks about living FOREVER in this article. Seems like people like Bill Gates and TPTB believe it to be true [link to www.informationweek.com] Kurzweil: Computers Will Enable People To Live Forever The inventor, author, and futurist predicts that in 15 to 30 years, nanobots will roam our blood streams fixing diseased or aging organs, computers will back up our human memories, and conference calls will be replaced by meetings in virtual resorts. By Sharon Gaudin InformationWeek November 21, 2006 10:36 AM In just 15 years, we'll begin to see the merger of human and computer intelligence that ultimately will enable people to live forever. At least that's the prediction of author and futurist Ray Kurzweil. I am afraid we could be not there by that time, beside who want to become a Borg with half brain as a computer. talk about some real nasty shit they envision as future.. I am sure the microchip idea will be accepted better this way.. |

That would just suck right? Tell you what, you don't have to do it... you can just die and the rest of us immortal god-machines can steal all your stuff. |

"He who dies at 100 will be thought a mere youth." This Hindu prophecy says it's to begin in 2012. [link to hinduism.about.com] |

Accidental Stoner User ID: 767025 Finland 05/14/2010 06:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No, nobody wants to suffer, young or old. "We don't need more old people"? I'll tell you this: There is nothing like experience, no substitute for wisdom. (Although it might help alittle to STFU, as Grandma used to say.) The thing is - it's the closing in of the inevitable, that creates some of said wisdom. Muahhahhahhahh! Rootless, cultureless slaves are so much easier to whip around from one profit-mine to the next, from one disconnectedness to the the next. Respect for the soil that is supposed to feed you, comes from knowing your fathers. A balanced society realizes all this. Children mark my words. Me? I realized, way back iwhen I was young myself, that vertical traffic is an enemy of our self-appointed overlords. The youth cult has political origins and goals. I am now 46, not fat, not weak, not finished here yet. Peace to you, GLPers of all ages. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 955423never know this could just be a ruse for the 'unwanteds' thinking they'll live longer and just die sooner. what better way to kill mass amounts of people than by offering longer life in the form of a pill. that they forgot to study the side effects of. Very creative, and these days, realistic insight. TPTB have reached, i think, the very pinnacle of psychopathic dysfunction. I can just foresee a "central dispensary" for "the pill" -- you walk in the front, take the pill, and shortly thereafter come out the back as Soylent Green. Not unlikely, alas. Personally I believe that the price will be that anybody who takes this will have problems when they go to have children. Those children will be deformed. So, you win a few more years on your life, but you have to sacrifice your children's lives to get it. |

You are nuts. So, if that is your take on it, why did you want to live past 12? FYI, 60 is not old. 60 is part of the prime of mental acccuity, personal confidence and abilities, with almost no physical lacks in the healthy. It's a lot like 30, but with a few more wrinkles. Why would anyone who is reasonably healthy not want to live past 60? Oh yes, BTW, I am 59. Won't be all to very long until old age itself is "curable". If we do that, the average life span of anyone who could afford the cure (and that's the key part), will be measured in centuries if not longer. Assuming you don't get some disease or have an accident of course. You will never escape Judgement day. |

I don't want to live that long, and be dependent on others. All of these people live very sedate lives, barely going anywhere except to doctor appointments (however, the neighbor did come to our block party, and gave the grace before meal, when she was 101). With obammycare, we will be lucky to live to 80. He has a wish to put the useless eaters underground, or into ash. They want to get rid of paying old people to exist, because it is such a drain on the taxpayers and social security. I really wonder how many people would want ot live to, or past 100??? |

anonanon User ID: 970934 Switzerland 05/14/2010 09:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Why would you want to? GIven what old age is, who wants to spend a hundred years in a nursing home? Just the thought of a few years in one is hard to deal with. Unless the pill can also give you the body and health of a 25 year old, what is the point? Life and death are the nature of all living things. Live well, age gracefully and die peacefully is about the best we can strive for. Death will come to us all and there is no reason to get all crazy about it or to live a century longer than your God-given time. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 970944 United States 05/14/2010 09:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have very good genes - my grandmother lived to be almost 101, and ate a lot of bacon grease in her food every day. She demanded bacon grease in her green beans and scrambled eggs. She loved ice cream and ate it every day over the last 10 years of her life. She also lived alone until she was 95. But if I ever get to the point where I can't control my bladder or my bowels, just check me out. I don't even want to go there. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 967860 United States 05/15/2010 12:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | And just who will be the people who get this pill first ... and then will want to keep it from the masses so that we don't overpopulate an already crowded planet? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 968544Well those who are on the meaner and more selfish end of the scale. What dictator is going to want to voluntarily give up his "Dictatorship" where he can have others killed on a whim just so some younger person can come in and replace him? NONE!! If it wasn't for death most dictators would keep their "job" as long as they could continue to kill and imprison everyone else. Ditto the "Corporate Titans". If not for Boards of Directors setting mandatory retirement ages because of the perceived mental and physical decline how many Corporate Titans would ever retire? Ditto all up and down the senior management ranks. People think Congress doesn't have much turn over now ... just wait until a Strom Thurmand can stay in the Senate until he is 165!! Remember Federal Judges are appointed "For Life" (US Consitution). If suddenly "Life" means another 65 productive years ther isn't going to be much fresh blood flowing into the Judiciary. Just some things to think about.... |
