Is God’s Love conditional or unconditional?
Is God’s Love conditional or unconditional?

The existence of hell seems to indicate quite clearly that God hates some of us and that that hate negates unconditional love by setting a condition that if we do not do exactly as commanded, that love is withdrawn.

Even if there is no hell, any king of eternal punishment goes against unconditional love.

Some think that when we sin, we sin against God as well as the victim here on earth. Unconditional love should always forgive regardless of the sin as far as God would be concerned.

Conditional love would say that the sinner must repent.

The problem is the unrepentant sinner.
When meeting God for judgment, if the sinner cannot see why he should repent or if he feels that whatever issue at hand is not a sin, does God’s unconditional love apply or is it cast aside somehow so that God can have the option of punishment?

This may never happen as God is said to have omnipotent persuasive powers but of this I am not sure and you may want to correct me on this because God, it seems, could not convince Satan to do His bidding.

Is God’s love then unconditional and no hell is required because we are all forgiven thanks to that love?

Or

Is God’s love conditional and there is a hell for those who do not do as commanded and repent?

We get the powers over us that we've earned collectively. Humanity, as a whole, is self-interested, shallow, ignorant, violent and immoral; small wonder, therefore, that our leaders (secret or otherwise) reflect that. You want better leaders, become better people.

Re: Is God’s Love conditional or unconditional?
Of course his love is conditional.
don't think otherwise.

He didn't lay down his commandments for nothing.

I know it gives you a nice cozy feeling to think that GOD loves you regardless, but the harsh reality of it is the exact opposite.

If you don't play by his rules, then you won't play in his house.

To think otherwise is foolish, and to try and convince people otherwise, is sinister.

Re: Is God’s Love conditional or unconditional?
Agapé (Love) is unconditional. It's there regardless of any circumstances, beliefs, actions etc.
But I think we're programmed to interpret love as "approval". Approval is different, and is very conditional. God loves even the bigshots bent on destroying and enslaving the population. But like us, He does not approve of their behavior, and they have some serious lessons to undergo and personal changes to face.
If we love our enemies, that's not to say we condone their actions, any more than loving our troubled children equals approval of their bad choices.

Not the traditional endless torture-by-fire place, no.
Per scripture, God *is* a consming fire, and His word is *like* fire. His judgment by fire for us is not literal fire. But it acts like it, burning away our impurities and leaving us in "ashes" and sackcloth (the symbols of humility).

Good points...if God's and Jesus's love is unconditional, we wouldn't be punished by eternal torture.

Every Bible-thumping Christian's head just exploded.

Look at it this way:

There is no Hell in Heaven, Hell is here on Earth and any other "Earth" universe-wide. You fuck up and don't repent, with reincarnation taken into account, God just sends you back to Hell and maybe as a cock roach next time, instead of a humanoid or maybe a beautiful butterfly.

So what do you want for eternity? To be a female cock roach, always being fucked by the boys and never getting help with the kids, or to be given the opportunity to experience True Love? Cock roaches do not experience True Love but We do. rose

Re: Is God’s Love conditional or unconditional?
the right answer would be, both and neither

unconditional yes no doubt
but conditional in the sense that you can make it greater or lesser depending upon yourself, and your spiritual strife.

Re: Is God’s Love conditional or unconditional?
That is entirely up to YOU.

But ask yourself, what exactly is LOVE?

Though you are infinate, how far can your "unconditional" love be stretched?

A lot depends on your answers.

God's love is unconditional but, like any loving parent, He disciplines His children when they do wrong.

His love is unconditional in that it is open to all.

Entry into His eternity is conditional due to His unchanging nature.

While God loves unconditionally......attaining that love from our perspective, does have conditions!

So I say Gods love IS conditional!

John 3:16

For God so love the world that He gave His only Begotten Son, that whosoever should believe in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.

John 1:$

In Him was life, and that life was the light of men.

God's love for us is immense. He died so that we might live.

In Him is life, without Him is death. The people who chose to believe in the Son will receive eternal life. Those that do not chose Him will die/ perish. God loves even those who will be destroyed. His love doesn't waver. Our love for Him is the real question/test.

And for the record, I do not believe in a place of eternal torment. That is not taught in the Bible, but has been distorted by half-truths for a very long time.
