TUBE FAILS AGAIN! ROV'S TO BLAME!

Officials say they successfully inserted a new pipe into the broken pipe spewing oil into the Gulf. That new pipe started sending oil to a ship on the surface, but, just moments later, two remotely-operated robots crashed into each other and knocked the pipes partially apart. The robots were taking photos of the operation.

BP spokesman Glenn DaGian says engineers estimate it will take about nine hours to fix the problem.

If that's the case then that's good. What remains to be seen is what percentage of oil it is able to collect from what's spewing. And there are still the other leaks to contend with.

Or is there only one left to deal with?

Ok, I have an issue with CNN's graphic of the "lil pipe fix." They want me to believe that this ROV has the engine thrust power to fight against the outflow pressures that have been reported to insert a cork with a pipe in it. Doesn't sound right to me.

I'd like to see the video, they should be proud to show it, if it is truely progress.

That's the thing...they weren't fighting the full pressure of the leak. There is still oil spewing out of at least 2 other breaks in the pipe. This only captures the lowest pressure portion that was escaping the very end of the broken of pipe.


So regardless of the success of THIS particular portion of the problem, it is just a placebo.

Catching leaks downline from the BOP is just a matter of collection not correction.

If everything we've been told is true, there are still 2 other leaks, that will continue to grow until they can kill the well completely.

It is still leaking in 2 other higher pressure points further down the pipe, closer to the well head.

Why can't they just pinch the pipe closed?
