Why do you think the JSDF Navy operates American DDGs? Many of the people of Ginowan want Futenma shut down. So what? Many of the people of Virginia Beach want Oceana shut down. Quoting: The Guy:happydaze: Hi Guy. Most people don't understand jargon. Will WE be forgiven if we won't forgive? Quoting: Project_DeimosWe "nuked human beings" to save to world. Wake up. That's debatable. I think this article is fan-tas-tic, though. These people have the right idea. I'll freely admit to be far less than an expert on Japan's modern-security-situation, but I can say I don't recall reading anything recently about "the impending invasion of Japan" from "hostile enemies". I mean, who would invade them? Or attack them? North Korea, I suppose, maybe. But even THEN North Korea would surely attack the South first, and if that ever happened I'm skeptical the North would "exist" long enough afterward to invade/attack anyone subsequently. Another user in this thread (a former military man) brought up a great point- how would WE Americans feel if the Mexicans, or anyone had foreign bases on our soil...? I don't think we'd like it. I know we didn't when the BRITISH were here. It's obscene the amount the amount of bases this country's whored out across the globe. And so I respect these Japanese people for having balls of steel to stand up to Imperialist American Hegemony. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 960518 United States 05/16/2010 07:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "Nations/Governments hold grudges that last for centuries. China has not forgotten WWII, nor what the Japanese did to them (Manchuria)." This is a good point. We all (at least should) know the crimes of the Japanese Imperial Army- Nanking, Manchuria, vivisections, ect... In many ways the crimes of the Imperial Army were as bad-and-or-worse (?) than some of the crimes committed by the Germans during WW2. I recently saw Wong-Kar Wai's film "In the Mood for Love" and there's a subplot where a Chinese character begins to have an affair with a Japanese character and the rest of the Chinese characters are mortified... Those cultural prejudices may be around for generations, yeah. But I don't know if China is Japan's biggest national security risk at the moment. In my opinion it'd be North Korea (but again, I don't think it's much of a "risk" either way...). If Chinese troops are going to wash up on anyone's shores it'll be Taiwan. Actually- hm, maybe that is the main reason we have troops in Japan. Just thought of that. Huh, stream of conciousness. Whatever. Either way we should get the fuck out. It's disgusting to have OUR troops on so many OTHER NATION'S soil (to put a very complicated issue very VERY simply...). |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 972602 Australia 05/16/2010 07:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If you consider the speed, skill and ferocity of the Japanese war machine in world war two it's worth noting that the US considers those troops there as an insurance against any future aggression which the Japanese may choose to undertake. Same with Germany. The US has many troops there, even today. Once you piss off the Japs or the Germans, you've got a real fight on your hands. |
