BRKG: Russia hails Tehran nuclear declaration
newsflash [link to aljazeera.com] newsflash

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has welcomed the nuclear fuel declaration made by Iran, Turkey, and Brazil on Monday.

"What was done by our colleagues needs to be welcomed. This is the politics of a diplomatic solution to the Iran problem," AFP quoted Medvedev as saying to reporters in Kiev.

"We need to have consultations with all the parties, including Iran, and then determine what to do next," he added.

On Monday, Iran, Turkey, and Brazil made a declaration on a draft proposal according to which Tehran would send the bulk of its 3.5 percent enriched uranium to Turkey in exchange for 20 percent enriched uranium, which would be used as fuel for the Tehran research reactor, which produces radioisotopes for cancer treatment.

Tehran expects to receive the 20 percent enriched nuclear fuel within a year.

But if the deadline is not met, Turkey "will return swiftly and unconditionally Iran's low-enriched uranium," Iranian officials said earlier on Monday.

The IAEA has requested something formal in writing.

you might be right with your deadline...

if this is moving forward too quickly and thus goes against the interest of the opposing parties we might see some kind of 'event' (false falg *cough*) soon. with no good consequences whatsoever... let it be another border incident / a major attack on israeli soil or potentially even a series of immediate trade embargos......

yeahsure

It will not require a false flag or other such inventions. At this stage, war has become all but inevitable. The one who seizes the initiative stands the best chance of controlling the flow of battle. Both sides know this and considering the level of destruction I anticipate, the first shot will be forgotten quickly enough. The winner, if there is one, will also control the flow of political fallout.

I would anticipate the US to strongly consider a CSG deployment to the 6th fleet. The Enterprise is still preparing for deployment, but I believe the Truman to be ready for tasking.

A CSG could calm things and would place the US in a position to effect policy whatever that is these days.

from a military perspective alone the US has no competition whatsoever... especially when it comes to their air & naval forces there is little to nothing that smaller countries could do in order to effectively strike these carrier groups. so technically this would ensure a non-stop bombardment of targets without any real interference. have you heard about iran's "last option" though? rumor has it that they would completely obliterate all oil platforms & drilling plants in case the US would come anywhere near the strait of hormuz and target them from there in a full-scale war / assault. i just don't see how this war is going to play out... seriously... either way it seems like an impossible endeavor for both parties. hmm

can this little destroyer do any damage lol? i doubt it... chuckle

the only thing they have for sea combat are speed boats equipped with manual rocket launchers. but as soon as they get detected by radar or seen from a distance i would assume that the CSG has opened fire by then......

At the moment, the US is not aggressively deployed. While there is a CSG within range of the Straight of Hormuz, I would anticipate far more fire power would be concentrated if Iran were to shut down traffic.

The speed boats are a surprise attack threat, but once hostilities are established, they do not stand a chance.

Iran certainly does hold a super economic bomb and has clearly indicated their willingness to use it. The scope of such is not fully clear, but I would prepare for the worst case scenario.

If Russia and China had any balls (and brains) they would quit playing US games at the UN. US threats and blackmail against the world only works as long as other countries play along. Dumbasses.

Well in that case, the Russians should give them a few TOPOL M's on mobile launchers.
