Yes, but the term "good looks" is somewhat determined by societal norms. What we consider good looking - in 2010 western society - may not have been considered so in the 1500's for instance.

Also, diet and grooming help with things such as skin tone and attitude. Attitude has a lot to do with looking good as well.

I think both or one parent has to have the good looking genes that will carry over to the child. Lindsay Lohan's father is rather ugly but she picked up her mother's genes which compansates for it.

Two "uglies" will produce another "ugly" because those are the genes the kid is picking up.

As a parent of several children (13) and a beautiful wife by any standards. I can promise you that not only is the looks of the mother and father to be considerd but the grandparents and great grandparents.

A professor had a theory about this. He said on the first day of class there was a strikingly beautiful blonde in his class. He said that just one look at her told him she would probably be the most intelligent person in the whole class.

His theory was that throughout history the intelligent men got rich and picked the most beautiful women to marry, thereby merging intelligence and beauty over and over until beauty equals intelligence.

The blonde did turn out to be the most intelligent in the class. he said he had never seen it fail.

Same here. We have brown eyes and our daughters are blue. Apparently there is a 25% chance of that happening.
