Anonymous Coward User ID: 516293 United States 05/19/2010 08:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Mark my words, this was intentional, but not for the reason most people here think. This is about money! Big Business, shipping! They can blame whatever "enemy" they want in the future, but this was NO ACCIDENT. Tampa Port Wants to Build Bigger Oil Wharf . [link to www2.tbo.com] Updated: 05/18/2010 02:55 pm TAMPA - Bigger oil transports and more storage tanks could serve the Port of Tampa under plans officials are considering in light of changing oil market dynamics, port director Richard Wainio said today. The recent Gulf oil rig accident, competition from East Coast Florida ports and foreign countries using larger ships to transport products to the United States underlie plans to build a new wharf to accommodate "Panamax" sized ships – the largest that are able to cross through the Panama Canal. Those ships could be from 850 to 900 feet long, 106 feet wide, and with a 40 foot draft. Specifics of costs and schedules for the port's proposals won't be available for a few months, Wainio said. The site would be adjacent to the current oil wharf the port is shoring up, on the western part of Hooker's Point across from Davis Islands. Among likely trends: • Port Canaveral in April opened a $100 million, 36-acre, 24-tank oil facility that could compete with the Port of Tampa, which supplies petroleum shipments by pipeline to Orlando and its airport in addition to Tampa Bay outlets. • Latin American countries increasingly will refine oil products and those will be shipped in larger vessels to the United States. • The Gulf oil rig accident could make oil from offshore drilling more expensive if more stringent operational procedures and permitting requirements are enacted. That could lead to more foreign purchases and U.S. suppliers seeking greater economies from using larger ships. The 13 berths under control either by the Tampa Port Authority or non-Port Authority owners handled 118.3 million barrels of domestic petroleum and 5.6 million foreign barrels of petroleum in fiscal 2009. I have no doubt in my mind they needed to destroy the tourist and fishing industries in order to expand the shipping lanes for these supertankers. Everything is always about the money and wars. |

At least. It gets worse... [link to www.rense.com] <snip> A BP executive stated that they were removing 3000:1 gas to oil at the well before the explosion. (thats 3000 cubic feet of gas for every barrel of oil) The amount of oil leaking into the gulf is 25,000 to 70,000 barrels. a 3000:1 ratio would mean 75 - 210 million cubic feet of gas per day being released. There is 5.64 cubic feet of gas per barrel. That would mean there is 13.3 to 37.2 million "barrels" of gas being released each day. (note: this is at standard atmospheric temp and pressure. At the ocean floor and 2,400 pounds per square inch, this gas is compressed by a factor of of over 1000 and will expand as it rises. So, in the video coming out of the pipe it looks like 75,000 to 210,000 barrels of gas per day. you see, what happens when methane is released into the gulf? It goes into solution. There, in the deep ocean, it oxidizes, stripping the ocean of oxygen and forming carbon dioxide and water. This report, contracted by MMS, and titled: "Deepwater Program: Understanding the Processes that Maintain the Oxygen Levels in the Deep Gulf of Mexico" was contracted to see what the effects of deepwater drilling would be on the oxygen content of the gulf. They found that there are three regions of oxygen in the gulf, the oxygen- upper waters from 0-200 meters down, the oxygen minimum zone from 300-700 meters down, and the relatively dense, oxygen rich deep water brought by currents at a depth of 800-1500 meters. it looks kind of like this, with the oxygen level going up again at deeper levels. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 974613 United States 05/19/2010 09:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | BP touts containment efforts: heavy oil reaches Louisiana wetlands Quoting: ScrumpTheTexanBy the CNN Wire Staff May 19, 2010 6:08 p.m. EDT New Orleans, Louisiana (CNN) -- BP said Wednesday that efforts to contain and clean up oil gushing from a ruptured pipe in the Gulf of Mexico have made a "measurable difference" even as Louisiana's governor announced that thick, heavy oil has begun polluting the state's wetlands and estuaries. :dfjsty: Doug Suttles, BP's chief operating officer for exploration and production, said at a news conference that the company is "very pleased" with the performance of an insertion tube that was put in place over the weekend to suck crude oil from the well and funnel it to a surface vessel. The flow rate from the tube has reached 3,000 barrels of crude (126,000 gallons) and 14 million cubic feet of gas a day, Suttles said, adding that crews hope to increase those numbers in coming days. He said favorable weather conditions have also played a major role in cleanup efforts. About 14,000 barrels of oily water was skimmed Tuesday, and 50 percent of that mixture was oil, he said, adding that crews continue to deploy boom and conduct controlled burns. But Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana says the efforts haven't stopped oil from reaching his state's coastline. Thicker, heavier oil than seen in previous days has blanketed some of the state's precious interior wetlands, he said, and he called for the Army Corps of Engineers to approve an emergency permit to dredge sand from barrier islands to create sand booms as another line of defense. "These are not tar balls, this is not sheen, this is heavy oil that we are seeing in our wetlands," Jindal said. Video from Pass a Loutre in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, showed oil with a syrupy consistency lapping against reeds in a small area of marshland after creeping past booms and barriers. "Everything that that blanket of oil has covered today will die," parish President Billy Nungesser said. "Imagine [this oil] on top of a turtle or on top of a frog," he said as he held a stalk of reed that coated his hands in oil. CNN iReporter Eileen Romero, touring the state's Chandeleur Islands by boat on Tuesday, described a "foamy sheen on top of the water" left by the oil and dispersants, and she said she counted between 10 and 15 dead Portuguese man-of-wars trapped in debris. "While we were out there, my nose and the back of my throat began to burn as I inhaled the putrid-smelling air," Romero said. Jindal compared the fight to head off the approaching oil to "knowing your body has cancer. ... We've got to stop this cancer from spreading [and] we'd much rather fight it on these coastal barrier islands than inland." "We need more than just boom or skimmers," Jinadal said. "We need multiple lines of defense." iReport: Track the spill, or share your story Meanwhile, BP said it is continuing to mobilize equipment and perform testing in preparation for the first effort to actually stop the flow of oil. Suttles said the first attempt at a "top kill" procedure could come as early as Sunday. [link to www.cnn.com] tough to look at man tough :TAmite riv: |

A dreadful plague, and very grievous. The very sight of such vast rolling streams of blood, pure blood no doubt, florid and high-colored, could not but strike a horror upon people: much more afflictive were the consequences of it. Nothing more common than water: so wisely has Providence ordered it, and so kindly, that that which is so needful and serviceable to the comfort of human life should be cheap, and almost every where to be had; but now the Egyptians must either drink blood, or die for thirst. Fish was much of their food (Num_11:5), but the changing of the waters was the death of the fish; it was a pestilence in that element (Exo_7:21): The fish died. In the general deluge they escaped, because perhaps they had not then contributed so much to the luxury of man as they have since; but in this particular judgment they perished (Psa_105:29): He slew their fish; and when another destruction of Egypt, long afterwards, is threatened, the disappointment of those that make sluices and ponds for fish is particularly noticed, Isa_19:10. |

An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.
