I also read somewhere that it was a cycle of 13 years of ring change. I guess if you try and collect all images of Jupiter available that would prove if it is unique or not. Jupiter, 1973. Notice the missing southern equatorial belt; the great red spot is "naked" once more. [ link to en.wikipedia.org] Quoting: AstronutWow.. the huge storm used to be A LOT bigger than it is now.
