You all did notice, didn't you that on the oil weather forcast showing the projected path of the oil, it didn' show anything coming onto the West Coast of Fla.
Reason being that the "loop" is way off shore over the Deep water.
Notice that the projection does show Miami in its path, and look at the deep water in that area.
Also the target of many hurricanes.

Perhaps you also noticed over the yearst that Hurricanes travel up the center of the GUlf over the deep water.

Here is a view of Fla and the Continental shelf.
The water is quite shallow for about 100 miles out.
