Miggy User ID: 951022 United States 05/21/2010 02:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | maybe the sea floor is caving in? Quoting: LA-LA-LAThat's kind of what I'm thinking. Consider a flat piece of land where a 50 story building is about to be built. At first there's all the really DEEP digging. Then foundations get laid, filling the hole. But in this case, the hole in that ground is getting deeper and deeper with nothing but the surrounding water to replace it. This HAS to be making an impact on the surrounding land and water, doesn't it? What I don't understand is: Weren't there ever plans drawn up on what to do in case this scenario ever happened? My God! We have plans on what to do for approaching tornadoes, floods, earthquakes, etc.... Why wasn't there some type of chain-order of response when this occurred? Oh, that's right. Silly me. We are MEN after all. We can do ANYTHING flawlessly. |

Bithead User ID: 970662 United States 05/21/2010 02:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | BP says the amount of crude it's siphoning from the Gulf of Mexico leak fell to to 2,200 barrels a day, down sharply from a capture of 5,000 barrels reported yesterday, due to a change in the flow of oil from the ruptured undersea well. The flow today is made up of larger quantities of natural gas, 15 million cubic feet, a source familiar with the situation tells CNBC. The company is now able to better measure the composition of the flow, six days into the siphoning operation, using a mile-long tube inserted into the pipe leaking down on the ocean floor. The mixture of oil and gas coming from the leak fluctuates continuously, the source says. Critics have charged BP has underestimated the amount of oil spewing from the well, and the resulting magnitude of the spill, since the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon rig more than a month ago. The oil giant and the Coast Guard have estimated the flow at roughly 5,000 barrels a day. The criticism grew overnight, when a live feed of the plume posted on the House Energy and Commerce website showed oil still spewing from the pipe, even as the company said it was capture 5,000 barrels. BP says it will have more on the oil capture operations at this afternoon's Joint Task Force briefing from Louisiana at 3 pm eastern. [link to www.cnbc.com] |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 913496 United States 05/21/2010 02:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Not live but I think this vid shows the 3 dif leaks. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 976323I think...Def it shows the BOP on the right, at end it shows a farther away view. Not live though: It makes sense that the stuff coming out of the BOP is lighter in color. It would have more of the methane. Methane is lighter, especially after it's had a chance to start to expand, so it will be at the top of the pipe and will exit first. What's left is more concentrated oil, which exits at the later holes. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 977352 United States 05/21/2010 02:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This vid is the SMALL pipe leak. You think BP is going to show you the mother of all leaks. They wont even allow reporters around the estuaries. Think people think..... This is the vid of riser leak...where the riser is broken off from the rig...it's where the most oil and gas is leaking from...so if want to label them big or small...this would be the "big" one....if you want to label most dangerous or least dangerous area of the broken down remaining system....this would be least... If you see this leak stop....or slow down dramatically then.... Something wicked this way comes..... What would the wicked be? According to a post up there, BP says they are capturing far less oil, due to a change in pressure? |

Maybe a way to get new agenda in? Just saying that because if I spill 1 gallon of oil on the street say, they will have fire trucks, hazmat team, road closures... We have a leak who knows thousands of gallons a day, and we are just sitting back. Make you wonder. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 977366 United States 05/21/2010 03:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | With all the sand/Oil/Methane and whatever else spewing out @ over 2000psi, I am surprised the BOP or any pipes are left, talking about a mean sandblaster, that's what it would be like down there...correct? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 976323Where is the live feed that shows the 4 story/40 ton BOP? Yes. I see the CNN screen shot/video with "From BP" in the upper right hand corner and I know something is hugely phoney about this entire thing. Wrong. Very wrong. We're all being misled. Why is BP in our backyard, in control of all incoming videos, patroling our coats with our Coast Guard. Everything they say, every video, all lies. |
