***HOLY CRAP...CHECK OUT OIL LEAK WEBCAM...BLOWING UP!!!***

Isn't the oil reservoir several hundred feet below the sea bed bedrock? If so, I don't see any collapse just yet.

see them yellow pipes stucking into the air and the shadows beneath them? they were much more flush with the seabed a day ago.. I think there was a small collapse of the sea floor and this is the result.


is it possible that they have just decided to release the pressure 100% and let it collaps on itself to plug the hole?

As the oil is escaping its going to leave a void. Normally an oil company would fill this void using salt water or whatever means neccesary. This is not occuring.

Whats going to happen when this void succumbs to the absoultely massive pressure of 1 mile of sea water above it?

I thought I was the only one who saw the eels. I had just read a post about the demons being let out of Hades down there and turn on the feed to see those eels and got creeped out.

Well.....this leak is the end of the long bent up, kinked up leaky hose....it also has the LEAST pressure behind it...because it's at the end of the line...every kink, every restriction has more pressure behind it than the one in front...at least one of those kinks is leaking...the closest one to the highest pressure the whole chain will be holding back...highest pressure probably being right under the BOP...since it's almost assured to be restricting some....if all of a sudden it stops....or shows a marked reduction....it's most likely going to be because the flow found another place to get out...or enlarged one it had...it's highly unlikely at this point that something internal is going to clog or restrict the output all by itself...and until they try to do that intentionally...it's almost guaranteed it won't happen on it's own.

I'd really like to see this "end leak" remain steady...

If it cuts out, drops a lot and there is a bunch of shit floating around soon after...well...shit prolly hit it....

Possible.. but remember that there is still 3 miles of sediment and rock between the water and the reservoir that is even heavier than the ocean above.

are these people going to jail? the records show they we suppose to fix different things on the oil rig way before this happen but did not, and why did the safty inspectors not shut them down till they got them fixed? are the safty inspectors on the BP payroll? they should be held lible also and go to jail.

Seriously doubt it. I wouldn't be surprised if they get off with just a slap on the wrist.

The well casing itself is 18 3/4" OD.
The riser pipe is 21" OD.

I believe the pipe in the pic is what's left of the riser.

Once the abrasives in the oil wear away the piping, this leak will get exponentially larger.

If this one just stops, it would be be incredibly BAD.....

Far as I know they got all 6 rams to close...and they didn't do shit...closed as good as they could anyway...so there isn't anything good that would cause this leak to stop blowing out oil....
