Re: All Rand Paul haters - come here to be politically annihilated
I'm a liberal. I want government to control every aspect of our economy. In fact, all paychecks should emanate from the Federal government and our pensions secured by Uncle Sam. This is our ultimate goal, and Obama will see it through.

Private sector capitalism has run its course. It's over. Only the upper echelon Wall Street folks benefit by it through its corrupt practices at the expense of the middle class.

The demographic numbers are in our favor -- not conservatives. Minorities, unions, and the huge number of retiring baby boomers will vote for liberal Democrats to keep their entitlements flowing. Tbey don't trust conservatives can deliver the goods.

It's over. Liberals win. Conservatives lose. It's inevitable and as right as rain.

I am assuming you're a troll, but on the offchance you are serious, you are deluded beyond belief.

Where exactly will the wealth come from for these paychecks and pensions? The government, in case you haven't been paying attention, is beyond broke. Where are these "goods" going to come from? Wealth (and by wealth, I mean any kind of material thing) needs to be produced by someone. If everyone is waiting to receive from the gov, who is producing, and why are they working to produce, if someone who doesn't produce gets the same goodies from the gov.

Politically, you might be right that liberal will triumph, but mathematically, that means they will have a pretty much destitute economy, and as happens in all politically-controlled economies, there will be still be winners and losers, but it won't be based on merit or hard work, but who you know, control, and own.

Incidentally, do you really think Wall Street as it exists today has anything to do with capitalism? The Wall Street firms were saved from extinction by the of government, and all the big bonuses were effectively nothing more than government subsidies.

Look at Russia to see what 70 years of communism will bring. It's like they've been asleep with nothing to show for 70 years. Nothing but a run down infrastructure, dilapidated buildings, rusty factories, shitty cars and everybody dresses in black.
It's a terrible thing that's happened to a once great people and nation.

You better look around, because if this idiot is right, there won't be any improvements around you for the next 100 years or more.

BUT, what the hell was he thinking about, backing BP???? That seriously puts him in my shit book. Let all the ghouls in power go take a bath in the Gulf. :craaboil:

I'm a Tea Partier. There are people better versed in the underlying philosophy than myself, no doubt, but seeing as the Rand haters are out in full force on GLP, I welcome you to tell me your complaints about his politics, and I will dismantle your arguments piece by piece.

Why will he not support Israel? Is Rand Paul as anti-Semitic as his father, or is he worse?

He was asked a VERY simple and easy question, "will you promise to stand with Israel?" Most REAL Republicans would have NO problem answering that question with an immediate and enthusiastic YES! So why would Rand Paul not make that promise and then go on to dodge the question entirely? Is is a matter that gravely concerns all Jews and most Americans who have invested so much in Israel.

What they do is their own business and the business of their neighbors.

Rand Paul stood up for BP

that says it all
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 977693

I'll be honest, this one freaked me out too. At least at first glance. I have only seen bits of his comments on this, but I think I understand his mindset, so here it is.

First, he said he assumed BP would be responsible for all the clean-up costs. Clearly, they are not, due to the liability cap that Congress gave them. Based on his comments, I don't think he was aware of the cap. You can fault him for that, but to be fair, he is running a campaign for the first time, so you could perhaps understand if he did not know about the liability cap.

Second, and more to his underlying philosophy, would BP have ever drilled this well if there hadn't been a liability cap, which is basically a gigantic free subsidy from the government? My guess is that the answer is no. If BP knew that the damage from any single oil spill could bankrupt the company overnight, they would either not be doing dangerous exploratory drilling or they would have invested a lot more money in having proper containment facilities ready. As it is, with the liability cap, the bottom-line picture is that it made a lot more financial sense for BP to risk losing X dollars of the liability cap than invest several times X in improving their safety systems.

It's called "moral hazard" - when you know someone will bail you out from a disastrous decision, you are free to take bigger risks. If they work, you make the profit. If they fail disastrously, the tab falls on the other guy's shoulders. It's been the business model of Wall Street for years. Heads they win, tails you lose, all thanks to free subsidies of the federal government.

Remove those subsidies, and a lot of companies will fail, but the overall economic system will be much healthier, as people start wearing their own risks.

That was a tangent there, but the point is if the government really left BP 100% alone, but enforced environmental (property) laws so BP would be 100% liable for any damage they caused, you would see much better behavior from BP and other oil companies.

here's what I think ... the only reason he got elected was because of name recognition ... fact is, that he does NOT have the same political views of his father, and that he isn't nearly as smart ... of course, he doesn't have the experience of his dad but jeeeze, he needs to a hair do that doesn't make him like like an adolescent retard.

it is a cheap knock off of the real thing.

him and Palin make the perfect pair ... wonder who will be the pres and who will be the VP (does it matter) they are both idiots.

WAKE UP PEOPLE ... the demos and the repukes are the same party ... two head on the same monster

VOTE THIRD PARTY ... and let that be your statement ... you don't have to choose the better of two evils...you can choose someone who isn't associated with evil at all ... don't be duped into believing you have to vote for one or the other ... when neither of them keep their promises once they are in the white house ... and that's a fact Jack

Here is a little thought question to ponder concerning the roles and responsibilities of business. I put it here, because a lot of people seem to take a business as a natural given. That is just exists naturally like a tree or a rock. But it doesn't.

This is off-the-cuff, so it is probably flawed, but here goes...

It's a hot summer day, and I notice there are a lot of thirsty-looking people walking on the sidewalk in front on my house.

I spy a business opportunity. So I buy some lemons, sugar and water, and invest some time making pitchers of lemonade. I get a table, plastic cups, and head outside to set up shop.

Now, consider the picture before I set up shop. There is no lemonade. Anyone walking by my place, at least for the time they are by my place, cannot satisfy their thirst. Yet there is a natural demand for lemonade. So my little lemonade stand is meeting a natural demand.

I decide to charge fifty cents per cup. Person after person stops for a cup of my lemonade. This is a business, but understand the nature of the interaction. We are both winners. I win because the fifty cents covers my costs and efforts and makes me a profit. The consumer wins because they are exchanging, by choice, fifty cents for a cup of lemonade. They must, by definition, win, because the exchange is voluntary. They could just as easily pocket the fifty cents and keep walking.

Demand is good, so I raise my price to a dollar. Less people take the deal, but I making more profit, and the consumers are still winning because of the voluntary exchange.

I raise my price to five dollars. No one stops. Thirsty as people are, they would rather keep the five dollars and walk a few blocks and then slake their thirst someplace else for a cheaper price.

I lower my price to two dollars. This seems to be best spot for me, as I am just enough people to maximize my profit. I am rolling in money, but some people are irritated at the price, seeing too much profit in it.

While some are complaining, one enterprising person sets up a lemonade stand across the street, charging a dollar. All the people head across the street. Bye bye profits for me. He is still making a handsome profit, and now I have to either cut my prices to compete or go out of business.

You can take the story from here. I add more flavors of juice. My competitor adds food. A third guy opens a smoothie stand on the next corner. And so on. We are competing like hell, but who really wins? We all do, but the primary winner is the consumer. He has gone from a street with no lemonade at all to a street filled with an array of choices to meet his need even if he voluntarily wants to exchange his money from the goods on offer.

You will notice there is no government here. Certainly, a government will be needed to protect basic property rights. If I set my competitor's booth on fire, the government needs to step in. Or if I put Clorox in my lemonade, the government needs to step in. But policing and the settlement of torts are legit roles of government.

The government Rand Paul fears (and most Tea Partiers fear) is the one that steps in and complicates an otherwise straightforward transaction between people. I need a license before I can put up a stand. I need to take a 40 hour course on Lemonade Safety before I can get the license. The table must be set-up by union workers.

You throw enough complications and headaches like this into the mix, and I will never set up my stand in the first place. The consumers need will go unfulfilled, and rather than working and making a profit, I'll just be sitting in my kitchen, staring out the window.

I'm not sure what you're getting at, but the right to discriminate is as American as apple pie. We are supposed to be a "free market", "capitalist", "liberal" nation, yet if I create my own company, I can't decide my own hiring criteria. If I open a restaurant, I can't decide on my own criteria for what constitutes an acceptable patron. How are these ideas in any way compatible with what the founding fathers intended, and the ideals that are supposed to be intrinsic to a "free country"?

And your notion that the public spoke against discrimination is wrong. Most of the reason the civil rights act passed is because the USSR was making us look ridiculous on the international stage. Instead of staying true to our ideals and combating the USSR with out superior moral and philosophical positions, we sunk to their level and commied the fuck out of our country.

the government rand paul fears is one that is not maintained by his controllers, the illuminati, or whatever the hell you'd prefer to call them. the pauls are part of the deception.

This is such nonsense. I'm curious, is there any one in political power who is not owned by the Illuminati?

And a second question: if the Illuminati were so beloved of Rand Paul, why are TPTB, which I assume in your model of the universe include the Illuminati, working so hard to discredit him?

He supports BP and big oil

He is opposed to the part of the civil rights bill that forces private businesses to not discriminate according to race...

He thinks that handicapped people should work on the 1rst floor instead of the government forcing businesses to provide proper access...

He supports BP

The Govt can kiss my ass and so can Rand Paul...

He is a fake, a plant...

And anyone who believes that people should be allowed to turn away customers according to their skin color is the typical trash that gets elected...

"Tea Partiers" make me giggle...

You have let the 2 biggest fakes convince you this movement is this amazing movement that is going to overthrow the corrupt government...Truth is, the Govt is way too big to be fixed, and especially by republicans...

Glenn Beck denies 9/11 was an inside job...
And Alex Jones has been proven over and over to be a complete shill..

You guys let your movement to be infiltrated long ago by these 2 and others...

People really need to research what is going on in the world and our govt...Its not hard to find out...If you think Rand Paul and Ron Paul are any different, you are sadly allowing yourself to be manipulated

If they are claiming a party, you need to question their motives..

This is the problem with our society, we have allowed them to split us into different parties...We are at each others throats with insults and bickering over left or right, not right and wrong..

We need a neutral government where all decisions and bills are voted on by American citizens, not corrupt politicians that have had their pockets filled by every bank and corporation out there...

How hard would it be to set up a quarterly voting session, where Americans can vote on Laws, not politicians..Let the politicians argue their points to the public...

For the people, by the people..

I sincerely hope he is an anti-Zionist.

But not anti-Jew.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 977582

Nope....Rand put out a packet where he kissed israel's ass just like the rest of the Corrupt Congress critters. Unfortunately voting for Rand is just voting for the lesser of two evils. He is a Zionist kiss ass groveling Shill.
