So the half of the Earth facing the sun when the super CME hits our atmosphere will possibly lose the Electrical grid due to a EMP and their satellites will be fried disrupting all electronics transactions and the other side will suffer secondary ripples as communications go down but will still have a electrical grid. Am I anywhere in the ballpark here will this create a world wide state of emergency as many nations go on full alert when surveillance of each others activities go down .

So, this big major "doom-bringing" filament/CME/whatever did (as those of us who ARE "educated" knew it would) nothing.

Last week, people, like the individual who I've quoted here, were singing a different tune. As were many others.

Those of us who choose to use our brains instead of our emotions (and/or pre-determined "doom"-centric-inclinations) tried to be reasonable. but apparently it's too much fun to play make-believe.

Life is more interesting when it's an action-movie, right? This is why we GO to action movies.

EXCEPT life isn't a movie. Sometimes life is very mundane and boring. Sometimes it's disappointing. Sometimes...we even make up problems to make it more interesting. Don't we?

But anyway, the world's still turning. It's kind of interesting to look at the way posts DROPPED OFF EXPONENTIALLY as of a few days ago in this thread. Everyone's gone back in their holes, looks like. Waiting for the "next one". After which they'll wait for the next "next one". And the one after that. And the one after that...

Pretty soon you grow old and you die. And what did you spend your time doing? Hiding, waiting, and mis-reading SOHO-data.

And it's NOT good enough for a couple individuals in this thread to say, "Well, we were wrong. But it's GOOD we freaked out and humiliated ourselves because this means we'll be READY when the real one happens..."

That's...ridiculous. The MORAL of this story SHOULD BE, Hm, I freaked out and ridiculed the users in this thread whoh posted coherent information, which they were then able to back up and elaborate on confidently. Even though it made sense, I wanted things to be a certain way. So I called him a "shill" and accused him of knowing more than he was letting on. But if I followed the information he provided, I might've saw that it made sense. Not because I would've been "brainwashed", but because science is just science- it has no ideologies and so it can be trusted. A lot more than someone who's unqualified and has no training who's attempting to analyze SOHO-data.

If only I'd thought this through last week, I could've saved myself all this anxiety, and MAYBE I wouldn't have CONTRIBUTED to the anxiety of OTHERS, as well.

NEXT TIME I'll hit the books instead of running around with my hands in the air.

....I guess we'll see.

I think we have had a couple of volcanos gone off during this solar storm + some world conflicts ... few power outages, too + nice auroras.

It peaked G2 level, which matched my estimate. Minor K4 appears still going on.

I am a daily quake map watcher and I noticed an increase in stronger quakes. Infact the 1st good flare hit, that day there was a 7.5. The normal 5's have been a new normal this week with 6's. I dont claim to understand the science behind this but have noticed. The magnetic pressure is calming down as of today(for now anyways) and it well be interesting to see if the quake strengths also calm.
