Authorities say the situation in Brandenburg will become serious by the weekend. Meanwhile emergency teams in Poland are attempting to shore up river banks as the country continues to suffer its worst floods for decades. The first flood waters have now reached the German-Polish border in Ratzdorf and Eisenhuettenstadt, near the Oder river. [link to www.dw-world.de] |

Sul-americano User ID: 863945 Brazil 05/25/2010 09:16 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's raining a lot here in southern Brazil, but temperatures have been at least 4ºC above the average this month. Many floodings so far, and may was supposed to be one of our dryest months! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 980567you got a dry season and a wet season? Most part of the southern region, excluding the extreme west, has a Maritime Temperate climate or Subtropical highland climate, and the seasons are quite well defined, differently from the rest of the country. Rainfall from may to august is historically 40% lower (around 90mm) than the peak summer months (dec-feb), where the average rainfall is around 160mm. |
