TORNADIC STORMS: TX + OK + ??? -- FRIDAY NIGHT
Hmmmm, some really hot supercells have formed just since 5pm in NW Texas and SW OKlahoma. Some have been putting down funnels and also showing hook signatures on radars.

Then just after this big radar ring has flashed, the tornadic storms north of Altus, OK are slowing a bit in their spin motion per the meteorologist at the WX Channel.

See the Radar Ring Flash here now at 7pm CDT:

Looks like they fired the ring from OKC area.

WHOA, look at this big cell that is intensifying north and east of Guthrie, Texas, a little town southwest of Wichita Falls. This cell has had several areas of cirulation and a tornado on ground in past hour. The Dallas NBC Meteorologist noted at 6:30pm CDT that this cell was making a right turn and going more southeastly towards the DFW area. It was moving due east before this change.

Interesting - a faint BEAM image is seen shooting straight north up from the outlying (northeast of town) area of Abilene. The storm is just moving in towards the edge on the beam path.

Also on the NOAA Radar from DFW - can see a different beam shooting at the same storm, seems directed at the hottest area of the storm cell.

This beam is very faint and seems to source from 2 counties west of Ft Worth... like the apparatus might be located in NE Palo Pinto County, hmmmm.

The storm cell that was near Guthrie is now tracking to the northeast of Aspermont on this radar.

[link to www.srh.noaa.gov]

The cell is getting even bigger and you can see the entire thing now rotating... watch the pink dots within the core. Those pink dots are the individual meso rotations that may be several tornadoes now rotating around the center.

Intellicast has a neat radar system that identifies the circulations and also the diretion of travel, TVS (tornadic velocity signature) - check it out here: [link to www.intellicast.com]
