Most GLPers are like frogs boiling in the proverbial pot...
Everyone knows the old proverb about the frog boiling in the pot. The premise is that if a frog is placed in boiling water, it will jump out, but if it is placed in cold water that is slowly heated, it will not perceive the danger and will be cooked to death. The story is often used as a metaphor for the inability of people to react to significant changes that occur gradually.

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

Unlike the unaware frog however, most GLpers know that they are being boiled to death but they will not jump out of the water! Most GLPers do nothing to help themselves or their families get out of the danger zones.

What's your explanation for that?

Here's some theories:

1. They have a death wish.

These people want to die ASAP. They stay in the danger zones because they feel it's the quickest way for them to die. That's your right but what about your family? It's evil not help them to escape the danger zones when you know they're being boiled to death, metaphorically speaking.

2. They believe the doom will bring on Christ's return (or planet X, 2012 salvation, zetas, etc.).

There's no need to save yourself if your imaginary friend or thoery has or will save you.

3. They are "Cyphers".

The curse of the "truth movement" is that many "truthers" reach a point where they know the whole world is ass backward but, like Cypher in the Matrix, they would rather go back to sleep than accept the horror of the truth and the responsibility knowledge of the truth brings.

In the real world "Cyphers" can never forget the truth that they know but they try to rationalize, rearrange, and ignore things so that they can continue to function in the world just like all the other sleepers.

The following video is a perfect metaphor for the "Cyphers" of the world. The man in the video has been diagnosed with cancer but he "heroically" ignores it and continues on as if he never knew about the diagnosis. The man knowing about his cancer and ignoring it is a metaphor for "Cyphers" knowing that the world's upside down, ass backward, and totally wicked and ignoring that knowledge and "heroically" continuing on just like all the other sleepers.

The sad reality is that on some level people don't really want to change the horrifying reality they see, trying to wake them up from their slumber is actually breaking their free will. If they wanted to be woken up, they would wake up. I'm starting to think that trying to force people to wake up is breaking the law of free will.

Most of the lunatic fringe don't even want to accomplish any positive differences in their own lives, I'm starting to think they're just common sheep like everybody else. Maybe the lunatic fringe thinks they're fringe but they're mostly just as ordinary as anyone else you'd meet on the street.

Maybe it's just as simple as this:

Has The New World Order Taken Over America's Free Will, Leaving People Unable To Think For Themselves?
[link to www.cuttingthroughthematrix.com]

"People are always saying that they want truth, but they don't really want truth. They want something which is familiar. They want a guarantee that if they come into the next step to waking up they'd be guaranteed to be able to handle it and that isn't the case. Not everyone can truly wake up. Many people can wake up to the first step, which is simply understanding what's happening in the world around them and to them and where it's going and they can follow the speeches given by various people down through the last hundred years or so and it all begins to make sense to them, but that's only one level of this whole process." - Alan Watt [link to www.cuttingthroughthematrix.net]

“My experience has been (people) don’t wanna know (the truth). They see their life as being short and under their control and if they accept the fact that they’ve been robots all their lives and they’ve given birth to robots all their lives, that’s too much for them and they would rather, like ostrages put their heads in the sand and wait for the kick in the ass.” – Glen Kealey Download the interview with this quote below: [link to www.archive.org]

After years of dealing with the lunatic fringe I feel exactly like this quote from David dIcke:

I feel like the cow who runs into the field screaming: Hey, you know that truck that takes some of our friends away every month? Well they don't take them to another field like we thought. They shoot them in the head, bleed them dry, cut them up, and put the pieces into packets. Then those humans buy them and eat them! Imagine what the reaction of the rest of the herd would be: You're crazy man. They'd never do that. Anyway, I've got shares in that trucking company and I get a good return. Shut up, you're making waves.

4. They worship and love doom, including doom that falls on themselves, their families, and their friends.

Doom religion and worship was shown in "Conan the Barbarian". Doom's a major part of christianity and islam, and now I think people are worshiping doom on the net (I'll call them "doomers").

Conan the Barbarian

"You broke into my house, stole my property, murdered by servants and my pets, and THAT is what grieves me the most! You killed my snake..." - Thulsa Doom

Thulsa Doom was the leader of the doom religion. Read that quote carefully, he valued animal life over human life. I think this is a staple of doomers. They don't seem to have any value for human life but they love their pets, oh they love their pets.

"To the hell fires with Thulsa Doom. He's evil; a sorcerer who can summon demons. His followers' only purpose is to die in his service. Thousands of them." - Valeria

Doomers seem to be like this. Their leaders are openly demonic and they value human life so little that they don't even seem to care about their own lives.

"Where is the Eye of the Serpent?" - Thulsa Doom

The serpent is the knowledge giver in mythology and doomers care about gaining knowledge but for what? If you root for doom which involves the slaughter of innocent people, there's no respect for human rights there. If you don't believe in human rights then where's the hope for you or your family?

The only hope for humanity lies in strict adherence to human rights for all otherwise everybody's at the mercy of whoever happens to spend the most money to win the presidency like Obama. In a world without human rights there's no limit to how bad it can get, see Nazi Germany.

This little poem describes the slippery slope of not caring about human rights:

First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out - because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak out for me.

If you don't believe in human rights for all then stop pretending to care about life because you have no life, you're dead.

Conan: The riddle... of steel.
Thulsa Doom: Yes! You know what it is, don't you boy? Shall I tell you? It's the least I can do. Steel isn't strong, boy, flesh is stronger! Look around you. There, on the rocks; a beautiful girl. Come to me, my child...
Thulsa Doom: [coaxes the girl to jump to her death]
Thulsa Doom: That is strength, boy! That is power! What is steel compared to the hand that wields it? Look at the strength in your body, the desire in your heart, I gave you this! Such a waste. Contemplate this on the tree of woe. Crucify him!

Here's Conan with his dumb little religion trying to find the answer to the "riddle of steel" (an obvious metaphor for mainstream christianity) and Thulsa Doom doesn't realize how stupid that religion is because Thulsa Doom's religion is at the same sub-mental level as Conan's religion.

Thulsa Doom sacrifices one of his followers by telling her to jump off a cliff for no reason except to prove a point. His point is 100% wrong of course. What he accomplished in sacrificing his follower was all about the mind, it had nothing to do with "flesh", it was all about mind but Thulsa Doom was too ignorant to know that.

"Purging is at last at hand. Day of Doom is here. All that is evil, all their allies; your parents, your leaders, those who would call themselves your judges; those who have lied and corrupted the Earth, they shall all be cleansed." - Thulsa Doom

This is how the doomers look at things but what most of them don't realize is that they are often more evil than their enemies. They can't see it. Once you sellout Humanity, you won't be able to rejoin, ever. Rooting for the slaughter of innocent people is selling out humanity.

Children of Doom: [chanting] Doom!
Thulsa Doom: You, my children, are the water that will wash away all that has gone before. In your hand, you hold my light, the gleam in the eye of Set. This flame will burn away the darkness, burn you the way to paradise!

The doomers never seem to consider the idea that will come after the doom will be worse than what was before the doom. Notice that Thulsa Doom referred to "the gleam in the eye of Set". Doomers are controlled by the same methods as the old time religions they recognize as BS (the eye of horus) but they can't see it.

doom's a major part of christianity and islam

Why is it that the Christian, Muslim, and Judaic nations seemingly are always at war while the Hindu and Buddhist nations almost never go to war?

Could it be law of attraction?

War is a prominent part of the Christian, Muslim, and Judaic religions. Are they attracting war to themselves by essentially worshiping war?

War is not part of the Hindu and Buddhist religions. No worshiping something, no thought towards it, means no attracting it according to the law of attraction.

Worship, Warship... Is someone telling us something?

Wars in heaven

In spite of the claimed perfection of heaven, the "perfection" also includes the ability to make war:

And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

-Rev. 19:11

And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

-Rev. 19:14

And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels

-Rev. 12:14

The Borg is also described as a warring system that can destroy worlds. I don't know about you, but a heaven that can include war and armies is not my description of a peaceful place. And remember, every minute you have to put up with the HOLY-HOLY chants. Instead of the glory of heaven, the Bible more accurately describes a "gory heaven."

Violence from heaven

The Borg has the ability to send destructive beams which can destroy planets. So also can heaven's God strike against his enemies:

And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

-Rev. 20:9

Again, the description of fire from heaven does not impart the idea of a pacific place.

And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.

-Rev. 11:12

So much for love of enemies. They get left behind to suffer the consequences of their chosen freedom:

And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

-Rev. 11:13

Woe to the frightened people who had the will to abstain:

Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

-Rev. 12:12

And again, more fireworks from heaven:

And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

-Rev. 11:19

And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men

-Rev. 13:13

Even Jesus has the vengeance of a blood thirsty killer:

And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

-Rev. 2:23

That's right; even Jesus has the will to kill! (If you don't realize those words as coming from Jesus, consult a red-letter edition of the Bible.)

Sorry, but I just don't want to live with a wrathful entity who slaughters his enemies, or has the will to kill "children." I'm not impressed by the macho or the fireworks. I don't care how powerful he is, or what great wonders he "doeth".

Thankfully only 144,000 will reach heaven

The Bible explicitly tells how many will be "saved":

...the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins.

-Rev. 14:3-4

Metzger writes, "The first part of chapter 14 is a scene of tranquillity and rejoicing. John sees the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, with the 144,000 of the redeemed. . . 144,000 is a symbolic number, representing all those who remain faithful. . . On the surface this means that only men who have never had sexual intercourse can 'follow the Lamb wherever he goes'. . . Rather, John appears to adopt the imagery found frequently in the Old Testament where any contact with pagan worship was called 'fornication' or 'adultery.' Hence, the 144,000 are those who have not defiled themselves by participating in pagan worship."

Metzger sees that the 144,000 consist of the 12,000 from each of the twelve tribes of Israel. The twelve tribes symbolize the new Israel, the Christian church. Each individual is marked on the forehead with a seal. (See the marked head of a Borg unit above.)

In other words, unless you are a male virgin believer (or a pagan worshiper) you will not get into heaven. Whew! Now I can relax.

I don't know how many people inhabit the cube of the Borg, but 144 thousand seems to be a reasonable guess. It also appears that the Borg have no relationship with women, or have sex of any kind; they seem entirely virginal.

Sitting for eternity with 14399 tribal men in a cube, with the absence of women & sex, paying homage to a wrathful war god surrounded by multi-eyed beasts (symbolically speaking, of course), and having to listen to a never ending chant of HOLY-HOLY is not my cup of tea. Thank you very much, but I'd rather remain peacefully dead for eternity than suffer the entertainments from this vainglory god.

I think the doom worshipers have a death wish.
And these people want to overthrow the system?

That's my worst nightmare.

These doom worshipers are like the wraiths from "Lord of the Rings".

Well, the first paragraph of OP's post was good anyway.

I'll tell you my reason for staying in the pot.. I'm too broke to leave. Yes, it actually takes money these days to up and move the whole fam damily. I'm not saying that I'm to cheap to make the investment. I am saying there is literally NO money. Zip, Zero, Zilch. If one of the kids misses the bus and needs a ride to school it's a major ordeal because we can't afford to put any gas in the car.

Kind of hard to get out of the pot when you don't have the means to do so. Why do you think so many people went to the AstroDome before Hurricane Katrina? Do you actually think that they thought it would be safer than leaving town. Hell no. They would have left if they could. They had no choice. It was either the dome or stay home.

My new theory:

A sheeple is always a sheeple.

A sheeple who understands their like a frog boiling in the proverbial pot still is doomed to follow the herd. They don't have the capability to break away from the herd and go their own way. Maybe they'll develop that ability some day but most at GLP don't have that ability, they're well educated sheeple.

Your environment can destroy you spiritually and mentally as well as physically. When I said "danger zones" in the original post I wasn't only referring to places that are physicall dangerous.

When everyone around you is morally repugnant it will affect you in gruesome, horrifying ways spiritually AND physically.

I wasn't only referring to physical danger zones, the spiritual and mental danger zones are everywhere as well.

The amazing thing is that most GLPers seem not to care about their physical, mental, or spiritual well being enough to move out of the spiritually toxic and/or physically dangerous danger zones.

And where do you intend to go to to find the non repugnant people? To mars?

Your life is the mirror of the state of your own soul. If you have only repugnant people around you you should ask yourself why.

In my case I am only surrounded by nice and helping people. I may not always agree to their views but I know they do their best in their own way. There is no danger from my area, the danger is from others areas. So why should I leave? I am too old to believe the grass is greener in my neighbor's garden.

There was a song that said it all but just can't remember the title now. It was a man that left his house because he thought elsewhere was better. And from elsewhere to elsewhere he just came at the end of his life to acknowledge how he wasted the time to enjoyed what really mattered: his own home and blinded himself as punishment.

I am no "doom worshipers" nor a frog that willingly being boiled alive.

I've jumped and will continue to jump away until I reach a safe place.

But I gotta ask you, where in this world we gonna find a truly safe place?

Re: Most GLPers are like frogs boiling in the proverbial pot...
This is why everything is always an Inside Job first.

You get yourself straight within yourself.

Look directly at your good qualities, but also your shadow side because we ALL have a shadow side, and face yourself.
Your fears, your insecurities, your wrongs, your assets.

Grow spiritually within yourself and you'll see a whole different view and perception of you and the world.

Doom is always looking outside for salvation. A way out. A distraction. Go within and the doom will not be as attractive.

Think about it, Doom is only another addiction. A hit.
It's like a drug. Instead of the empty mundane, repetitive dull day, doom might elude you of change, any change, but it's just another hit.

Most humans are addicted to information, emotions, etc., and don't even realize it.

The irony is that once you purge all that out, you're back to empty space, and this is partly what most avoid.
The empty space. In that empty space you might find allot.

The kingdom of heaven is within you. I think most people miss just how profound that statement is.

Something that I've thinking about recently is this:

If the kingdom of heaven is within you, the kingdom of hell is within you too.

For those whose inside is indeed a hell, the answers "look within for peace", "look within for freedom" may not work for them.

It's not a pretty insight but that doesn't make it untrue.

Yes, it's because when they go within. Their inner thoughts are so negative, it creates nothing but sadness and anger, and pain.

This is part of their healing process, but it can be done with a spiritual path. I'm not referring to religion.

You know how hard it is for someone who's hurt allot of people and who has a negative mind to take a look within themselves? There's too much chaos inside, and discomfort.
This is why this takes allot of courage, willingness and support.
So I can see why people are sheepish. There's layers and layers of negativity and then layers and layers of denial of negativity.

A psychic change can happen but there's got to be the motivation.
Pain can be a motivation at first, or hittin a rock bottom, but how many people get motivation into looking within unless they are just sick and tired of what they see in their life.

Most are so distracted, they don't get to the rock bottom.

"Weapons of Mass Destruction Found (An Address to the Dead)" by Michael Tsarion is the best article I've ever read on this topic:

Well, now you know something about the sorcerers. But what of the Magicians? What about your true teachers? Unfortunately, they are always disagreeable threats. They try to awaken you from your tranquilized delirium, but their counsel can't get through because you have lost the ability to listen. You're receptivity is blocked by a myriad imbecilic ideas and false allegiances. You have identified with the objects of your hate, as you have been taught, and have received a rickety form of psychological security as a result. The true teachers speak of the beauty of change, spontaneity, mutability, curiosity, free thought, and new perspectives. The tell ya to get up on top of your desks and look at your world with new eyes. ("O Captain, My Captain!")

But that kind of advice threatens your paper-thin sense of security. So when the teacher speaks, your brain goes on the blink. You prefer the smell of vomit. You adore the drivel of pre-digested clichés, platitudes, and half-baked rebuttal. You crave the parroted sound bites from the smart-ass, double-speaking, talking heads on TV. An attack upon your silent and unseen contract with the sorcerers strikes at the root of the self-induced hallucination that has you believe all adversaries and pathogens are external in origin, and that the problems that befall are political and not psychological in origin. But that is okay. You can live out this lie all the days of your lives if you so desire. And you will do so, because it gets you off the hook. But soon, the matter will come into court and be settled aright. The brief is being prepared now as you read. But it's comforting to know that when your insecurity gets too pronounced there is always the mosque, synagogue, chapel, and church. Yep, there is always GOD - the ultimate fix all. After all, it is in his name that you act. "Blow them all away!" wasn't it, Mr. Faldwell?

As wise men know, inner sadism so easily finds its way out into the 3D world. Those infected with emotional and psychic epidemics are at the helm of the ships of state. They are steering humanity toward a crevasse. If we go over the edge don't blame the ocean.

Are they alien, or are they human? Are the navigators men or demons in human guise? Are they born from the womb of the world's ignorance, sadism, and sickness? Yes, they are, and you are living in their forensic filth. You don't care or notice because they have provided the necessary bread and circuses for your senses, appetites, and edification. They are overjoyed with their experiments and world of emotional and psychic prostitutes. They don't offer you truth, but they do offer crude forms of worldly power. And that is what you have been taught to rank over the love you have never known or received.

Your opinions are baked daily for you by the media and served up hot on TV. And you will believe what they tell ya. It’s not what you think that matters, but what Larry King, Oprah, Limbaugh, O'Reilly (and other Jesuit stooges and British agents) tell ya that does. Their Orwellian "Talismanic" mantras guide your life - Danger! Terror! We must give up liberty for freedom. Yes, we must! we must! Well, okay, but just remember that the walls that keep the would-be enemies out, also keep you in.

Re: Most GLPers are like frogs boiling in the proverbial pot...
Claim: A frog placed in water that is brought to a boil through gradual temperature increase will make no attempt to escape.

Status: False.

Example: [Collected on the Internet, 1998]

There's an old folk warning that if you throw a frog in boiling water he will quickly jump out. But if you put a frog in a pan of cold water and raise the temperature ever so slowly, the gradual warming will make the frog doze happily . . . in fact, the frog will eventually cook to death, without ever waking up.

Origins: The "boiled frog" story is indeed a kind of "old folk warning," an all-purpose didactic anecdote particularly favored by business types to illustrate the point that moving too recklessly and aggressively
may leave one with an empty pot, but traversing a steadier course of more gradual change is much more likely to bring about the desired result. (One specific application might be the computer market: a PC manufacturer who comes out with an entirely new line of machines incompatible with software written for earlier models might lose a good deal of his customer base, but one who ensures that his new PCs are backwards-compatible with older software will have a much easier time inducing his customers to upgrade their hardware.) Or the story can be used in the opposite sense, to demonstrate the perils of remaining complacent in the marketplace. (A PC manufacturer too slow to upgrade his product line may not realize until too late that his market share has gradually eroded to the point that recovery is impossible.)

The fable is also used by moralists as a cautionary tale warning against the folly of letting smaller wrongs just slip by or of falling into a pattern of small and seemingly harmless sin rather than disturb one's complacency enough to address these issues, thereby allowing evil to grow into a powerful force. When used in this fashion, those being regaled with the anecdote are being cautioned against their moral inactivity or laxity leading to their someday finding themselves to be the frog engulfed in a deadly situation.

The explanation usually given why a slowly-boiled frog will complacently remain in a pan of water, even to his death, while a quickly-boiled one will try to escape, is something like the following:
I am told the above instructions work because frogs are cold-blooded. This means its body temperature is the same as the surroundings, unlike us human beings. We are warm-blooded, meaning our body temperature is kept more or less constant, and does not follow that of our surroundings. We shiver in cold weather to keep up our body temperature. We sweat in warm weather to cool ourselves down.

The frog’s body temperature follows its surroundings. If you put the frog directly in boiling water, it will sense the heat immediately and jump out. But when you heat the water slowly, the frog keeps adjusting to the rising temperature. When the heat is too much for the frog to take, it is too late. The frog collapses and dies.
Like a fable, the "boiled frog" anecdote serves its purpose whether or not it's based upon something that is literally true. But it is literally true? Not according to Dr. Victor Hutchison, a Research Professor Emeritus from the University of Oklahoma's Department of Zoology, whose research interests include "the physiological ecology of thermal relations of amphibians and reptiles to include determinations of the factors which influence lethal temperatures, critical thermal maxima and minima, thermal selection, and thermoregulatory behavior":
The legend is entirely incorrect! The 'critical thermal maxima' of many species of frogs have been determined by several investigators. In this procedure, the water in which a frog is submerged is heated gradually at about 2 degrees Fahrenheit per minute. As the temperature of the water is gradually increased, the frog will eventually become more and more active in attempts to escape the heated water. If the container size and opening allow the frog to jump out, it will do so.
