OK, so which Korea are they going to be helping north or south?
If its north, i would completely cut ties with Russia if i were President because of all the shenanigans they have been pulling lately.

You assume I'm interested in sides, and being part of a group 'us'

I mean no harm, but no government, no navy or any other branch of any nations armed forces represent me in any way.

They have their own program to adhere to; imho, it is not wise to view even your own armed forces as representing us.

And no, I'm not avoiding your questions, I just don't believe military agencies are working for the greater good of any individual people, or an alliance of nations

Military forces are the activist branch of governments and politicians, who are given their remit by less than peaceful entities.

routine exercises as per every two years like it says dildos, nothing unusual

so, why not move the exercises or postpone them until things settle down? russia is looking for a reason to tangle with us

Tangle with us

Who exactly is 'us'?

The West? The U.S., or the U.N.?

Russia is a former superpwer, who's aim may be to have as much 'clout' as those who would demonize 'Russia'

This is a flawed line of thinking, imho, and just aids to perpetuate differences among different (perceptions of) human societies

who do you think russia will side with? not the united states. sides will be chosen and N Korea, China and Iran are old buddies

True.

Your analysis at an elevated level does not conflict with mine at a detail level.

Surely certain side is trying to impose their will upon another. And another is responding, naturally. Where the wrong has begun?

Still those controlling this world see war as an effective tool to settle the difference, and people don't see the wrong of that premise.

For all euphoric talks about the coming great new world, I see a long way to go.

Russia post Soviet era navy is a shell of its former glory, as is most of it's military. Not much of a story here.

Ever heard of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Russia, PRChina, Kyrgyzstan, Kazahkstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan

They don't come out and say they are military allies, but they've been running drills together and it was formed to counter NATO.

The story is, that we're being spoon fed what we should consider news, and the more or bigger reaction we have to it, merely increases the notion that these tactics are effective, though not as effective as they once were

True, but when you have world domination in mind ..like all the big nations do now, including the United States under the Obama administration, its hard to stop and smell the roses.
The only way out is to get rid of the world leaders we have now and start over, and that can only be done by voting them out of office, or ousting them by force.
This one world government they keep talking about will never happen because the Communist countries will never join, they like their communism and socialism, they would never agree to a one world government, so it would still be the free world against the oppressed world of Communism, nothing changed. I cannot see why those who want a one world government cannot see this, there efforts are futile.
We all need to just start over, defend our own borders and keep our noses out of other countries business, if they fail ..let them..then that was the way it was supposed to be.
The greatest gift we could give our children would be if all nations would dismantle all nuclear weapons.

What, no Aircraft Carriers?

oh that's right, russia can't make one.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 583942

They don't need aircraft carriers. They abandoned that red herring in the mid 90"s.

The invested in some of the most if not the most devastating anti ship missiles in the world. Try the SSN-22 on for size.

The Russian navy is there to protect its own turf in the event of a new Korean conflict, nothing more.Russia hasnt the naval surface ability to project power in that area if it goes hot. The US Pacific fleet alone has more firepower than the entire Russian navy. coupled with the Japanese fleet, who would be involved, and the SK navy, Russia would not see much glory at sea. BUT to stop Kim from trying to draw Russia into the fray, with false flags,Russia should have its military on full alert.

I do not believe North Korea is the only Nation that would love to spring a false flag. There is a lot of things going down simultaneously with the POTUS showing strong detachments from his responsibilities. Could either be seen as a weakeness(having oil leak, numerous involvements in current conflicts, seeming to be loosing traction in financing, ect ect) or just the perfect storm other Nations have been waiting for to actually have some sort of platform to voice what they want and have some weight to throw behind their words.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 982771

true...Russkies told us today they are planning this next month...2 days after this....

WASHINGTON — The Pentagon said Monday it plans to participate in new military exercises with South Korea, the first direct military response from the United States to the sinking of a South Korean warship by what officials called a North Korean torpedo.

Bryan G. Whitman, the Pentagon spokesman, said U.S. forces will participate in an anti-submarine maneuver in "the near future." In a second planned exercise, U.S. units along with South Korea and possibly other regional allies will work to improve their ability to interdict cargo ships carrying arms or other prohibited materials to or from North Korea.

The exercises were announced Monday in Seoul by the South Korean defense ministry, following a nationwide address by President Lee Myung Bak in which he ordered a halt to most trade with the north, and closed all sea lanes between the nations.

Later Monday, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon further intensified pressure on North Korea by declaring in New York that "there must be some measures taken" to respond to the North's attack. Ban, speaking at a news conference, didn't specify the steps. -L.A.Times
