If there is something possitive we can draw from this it is that in spite of an identical disaster, the Gulf appearantly recovered so well that none of us ever new it had happened before. It can recover again.

170' feet deep below surface and 'only' 3-5 million gallons total spiiled in the 9 months it took to stop it. This current blowout probably bypassed that in the little over a month it's been spewing, it's also 5000' below surface.

The real concern is that the junk shot could cause the bad cement job between the open hole and the outside of the caseing to blow out. Basicly if this happens the hole will continue to erode and will become a oil volcano and will not be fixable.
