My honey was watching the footage of it on TV this morning and he said it wasn't working. He noticed all the mud was being pushed out as fast as they could get it in.

Then the title should have been "Breaking, News Flash".

who gave this operation the freaking name "top kill" ??

sounds more like a military operation,covert codename for a nuke or such ..

There's still the enormous volume of crude in the Gulf to deal with -- but don't worry, BP just bought a whole shopping cart of paper towels, and they've offered to pay half on a rowboat rental.

I completely agree! Have they even poured the cement yet? And then waited to see of the cement holds? no. Too soon to tell, though of course I hope it works, for all concerned.

And besides, I trust NO ONE in authority on this matter, not the Coast Guard, not local law enforcement, and not BP. I'll wait for Paul Noel's opinion or his ilk, thank you, and the live cam, to indicate success or failure.

These reports are totally premature. Some JO from the coast guard (who has no idea) reported it to the LA times.

Assuming the oil isn't seeping into the ground and just finding another route to the surface then BP will just have to keep pumping mud until the relief wells are drilled.

Maybe they'll appoint a permanent mud pumping team to keep the gusher under control if the cement doesn't work, until they can get the relief well sorted. I'm assuming the BOP wouldnt cope with it though.
