There are fourteen+ airfields with sheltered aircraft. . . . They'd want to get rid of that threat. They would want to hit the assets that could be used to threaten Gulf shipping.

That means targeting the cruise-missile sites and the Iranian diesel submarines. . . . Some of the facilities may be too difficult to target even with penetrating weapons.

The U.S. will have to use Special Operations units. Case and point: Russia plans on using Iranian forces as pawns to fight the U.S. in a deadly game of chess.

Russia is arming Iraq to the teeth with all the latest military hardware, one of which is the Sunburn missile, a Russian-made 3M-82 Moskit anti-ship cruise missiles (NATO designation: SS-N-22 Sunburn), a weapon for which the US Navy currently has no defense, that could defeat The US Navy in the gulf.

Both times we went in/out we had a destroyer/frigate 300 yards in front of us. I supose you could do that submerged at night. That place has heavy shipping traffic and the tankers outbound can't manuver well and are at max draught.

True but the US Navy has doppler absorbing materials that reflects just like the seabed. And they can creep along the bottom ever so slowly. Also, they have propulsion systems that are DEAD QUIET!
