You all do realize what it would mean if they could prove beyond a doubt that this was Noah's Ark? First of all it would mean that the events of Genesis 6 really happened. Second it would also mean that flood was indeed a planet wide flood. Third it would mean that all the scoffers and people saying that the Bible writers had merely revamped an old local Sumerian flood myth had it backwards, that all the Sumerian mythos is a vast and wide distortion and corruption of what really happened.
The list of ramnifications of such a discover is vast and profound.
It would mean that the Darwian theory of evolution and its futher evolved theories are a POS. It would also mean that Geology would have to completely rethink every thing it thinks it knows about the Earths' history.
The list goes on and on.

Sumerian writings predated the bible and if taken without prejudice go to support the bible story, even though there are distortions in the bible. The Gods then had to flee the flood as well or they to would have died, your God today. They do not contradict one another, the problem is the bible does not have all the info of the Sumerians. Further, science does not scoff, it looks for evidence and this pisses off those of religious beliefs, for belief needs no evidence. And if they would quit throwing a tantrum, you would find that science does in fact support the idea of a great flood which happens in a cyclical manner. I am of the science, and I am cheering on this find, evidence wherever it comes from is a wonderful thing. For those of narrow mind, they will sink into a pool of belief and smile smugly, and those of science will smile and look for more in our past, we are together more than you think.
