How do we stay in touch to alert eachother of other incoming doom if the internet is down for whatever reason?

A medicine book from A-Z where you can find everything that you must do when someone is hurt or how you can recognize the symptoms from a disease or something...

I think there will be no longer a dentist to help us or a doctor so i think with food/water on number 1 and warmth we need to know how to recognize some things and help the people around us with the knowledge we can find in books from the medical side!

If someone has pain in his/her mouth than we just have to know how to treat that...or we go back to the middle-ages and someone is going to die only from is teeth that hurts..

Human race is one of the trillions of billions of intelligent species out there. So if you are ingenuously pretending to "survive", you haven't get the point. I mean, no more than the greedy NWO and all that crap. So, spare yourself all the frustration, anger and anxiety and prepare for the show of your life.

Aquaponics is just like Hydroponics, but instead of having to had nutrients to the water. The plants use the nutrients from fish waste.

A set up of two ten foot above ground pools containing Tilapia, and a grow bed that is 100'x 8',requires only 1/4 acre of land and......

Can produce 14,000 pounds of fish a year, and 40 cases of greens a week.

This set up can be scaled down as small as you would like, or as big as you like..

Feed your family, or feed a village.

Hi! I attempted to get a thread going a week ago 'Survival Strategy: Where on Earth is safest given the changes' Thread: Survival Strategy: Where on Earth are we the safest given the changes?

I think it would be good to zone in and come up with a workable list for people. would be an excellent addition to the Official Emergency Plan and could be updated given any new changes as they occur. There must be a way to generate a list of places around the globe that would come up as the safest places and have all the elements of survival given the changes that are occuring.

It might also be interesting to have a list of communities that have already been created around the globe that have been preparing for this senario..im sure there must be a few.

People who are willing to be prepared and make changes to survive will have to work out where is nearest or best/more preferable for them and take steps towards moving there.

I think you need a little much of both...you need your wisdom to take care of everybody and be calm but you need some stuff to protect yourself against madmen that or not prepared and didn't know about this at all...and they are at panic!

A while back our sewer backed up. Had to wait a while for the plumber to get there. A great emergency toilet is a paint/pickle bucket, A trash bag, (best to use two and double it up and a toilet seat. Place trash bags in bucket, fold over lip of bucket and tightly tie so bag won't slip back inside bucket. (I've found a tight twist and a tuck work great)Place toilet seat on top, Add whatever deodorant to the bag you care to use, just make certain it's non corosive to the bag. Pine Sol works great:) The bucket is perfect hight for doing one's 'business' the seat doubles as not only familiar comfort for that position, but also the lid helps to mask some of the odor. Works like a charm:)

One other tip...even if you're not a smoker, it's ALWAYS a good idea to carry a lighter with you. You just never know when it could come in handy. Just make sure you leave it at home when going through an airport check point;) Another good item to have on hand is a good sturdy utility knife. Make sure you keep an emergency kit in your car at all times. The usual plus some survival things, like bottled water, canned food and a hand can opener, or better yet the pull top canned food, camp stove and plenty of blankets.(make sure you rotate your food and water, this is easier if you take a sharpie and put the date that it expires so it's easy to see)

Another good thing to have in your car's trunk is a large cooking pot, so you can boil large amounts of water if necessary. The pot can double as storage for some of your other smaller emergency supplies such as a 9 volt batter and steel wool (just in case you lose your lighter;) And of course a good and practicle first aid kit. Many of the "first aid" kits sold in stores need some serious revamping imho. Also have a good camp shovel and a couple of rolls of TP in your trunk as well as some good hand sanitizer;) And don't forget the ever ready shake flashlight that never needs batteries.

A small portible radio is also a great survival tool to have in your trunk, just in case your car battery dies and you can't use your car's radio for useful info. Another great thing to stow in your trunk is a miniature fishing kit. They have fishing poles that are collapsable so they don't take up much room. Store that with a small tackle box with plenty of extra line, lures, weights etc. You never know when it might just provide your next meal.

This is something that I've been concerned about ever since discovering glp years ago. We really need to set up some type of network to stay in touch with tshtf...What if one of us just disappeared? I mean many of us on here would just assume that person has stopped posting or coming to glp. But what if that person was in trouble of some kind? How would we ever know. It would be nice if there were some way for us to try to keep track of each other...especially during such uncertain times.

That may sound great and all, but when you go stark raving mad from hunger, thirst, exposure, illness or all of the above, you will be one of the ones who will be trying to break down OP's door to get what he or she was smart enough to stockpile. You may not think it's a big deal now...but that's easy to do, when you're fed, warm and comfortable;) Think about the story of The Grasshopper and the Ants.

Good info! I recall as a child, my uncle turning his above ground swimming pool into a huge fish aquarium. I don't recall what types of fish he had, but do remember they were quite large. quoi I believe? sp?

Interesting items...what's a carhart? and why the silk scarf? Another item to add would be maps! Local, and state. get a good and updated road atlas if you don't have one. During and EMP attack your GPS's will be useless;)

That bulletproof vest, bug out bag, heritage seeds, assault rifle and berkley water filter are simply a snuggie, a warm blanket to give you a hope to cling to as you live out your doom boner fantasies of being the last one standing when the shit hits the fan and TPTB bring about TEOTWAWKI just in time for your Christmas 2012 backcountry cabin getaway to Yellowstone National Park. I suspect we'll scuttle into little dark spaces like any microscopic organism and hope to come out again when the worst is over. If you've still got your bugout bag by then it may come in useful long with the panic sex manual I'm writing, 27 positions in 4.22 seconds...lol
