*******UPDATE********

Just got off the phone with another Captain. He went East from Orange Beach and said he rode through oil all the way to Florida waters. He said the oil was moving very fast and should hit Pensacola (FL) beaches by tomorrow morning, and Destin would be soon to follow either late tomorrow or the next day.

This means that they'll likely shut down parts of Florida waters for fishing later this week.

Here's an updated map for the spill.

My heart is broken too. I lived in PC on and off for four years. My daughter was born at TAFB and I keep telling her I am going to take her back but I have never made it. Destin also houses a sacred place for me as well as Mexico Beach. I would be in tears if I were to go down and see that mess. I am so sorry for you, the rest of the people down there and the marine and wildlife.

Ok lets not overreact here everyone. I just got back from Pensacola Pride and we had a great time. The water was lovely and I didnt see nor smell any oil. All hotels have a full money back guarantee in the event there is large amounts of oil. So I say play it by ear. Also, people New Orleans is far enough inland to not be affected by this anytime soon and the Mayor has plans if needed to boom off Lake borgne!
