maybe they shouldn't yknow?

just sayin with all the bad weather and risks of heavy industry it's not exactly a responsible place to live. I know, I know... you'll tell me they are poor and it's one of the cheapest places to live in the USA, I don't care. It's cheap because bad stuff happens there frequently. Go live in Idaho or some shit where you won't complain about hurricanes and fossil fuel leaks. all those shrimpers pissing and moaning their boiler suits about the leak, none of them by any chance drive massive V8 pickup trucks that RELY and DEPEND on companies like BP to engage in risky but ususally safe and successful drilling operations to ensure that Gomer and Bubba get their gas now do they? of course not! oh good because I wouldn't want there to be MASSIVE BOLD FACED HYPOCRISY going on there!

Yeah, nobody needs to eat seafood.

I don't know where you get the idea that living on the gulf coast is cheap, but you are wrong.

BP's net worth is insignificant compared to the economic impact of this disaster.

This will be the biggest engineering failure in the world to date.

Me too, my town is a fishing town, provides a big supply of oysters and shrimp. We have 4 processing plants in our town. If they go down, it's quite possible the town goes down.

The coast and the gulf are the economic engine of the entire region.

I don't think the USA can stand losing another 1/4 of it's economy, and I doubt the world will fare well, losing the US economy.

Agreed. Everytime I look at that spewing oil fountain, I see the future.

I've always wanted to be a subsistence farmer, working a poisoned land.

without fishing, what will they process? Where will all those workers regain employment in that area? Where will the downstream consumers find product? How will the banks react when the loans on those plants are defaulted? What will happen to the property values of those homes sitting empty with no families to make mortgage payments?

Slavery always ends, but it ends hard...

We are all links in a big chain.

Man, I hope I am wrong.

Re: 21 million people live along the gulf coast
I live here on pine island, florida. That is SW florida on the gulf. The bay is about 1000 yds from my house and i walk out there sometimes and meditate, it is so peaceful....hate to see it ruined!
Nothing coming ashore here at all...hope it stays that way.
Hubby is a crabber and is looking for property up around st. augustine to crab in the river so if it ruins the crabbing here, we can just vacate our land (we got 8 acres)and hopefully come back some day.
We have lots of animals, would be very difficult but if the environment gets too bad, we would have to go.....not lookin forward to it!

Remaining in FL by the coast with a dead ocean is more stupid than originally moving there and living far inland. In fact, it will make the inland dwellers look smarter now than the coasties, Until the tsunami from the gulf floor cave-in covers it all. So glad I left and have few worries on this hilltop way North.

I can literally walk out my back door, and there is a canal
that connects to Charlotte Harbor that in turn connects to
the Gulf - and then I could pour a quart of motor oil in it
... and I'd be a criminal.

that this point - BP should be considered a Terrorist Organization.

Mostly dried and in effect pasteurized by Natural Gas burners. Nothing organic left in the commercial stuff, all killed. Like eating vitamin enhanced foods rather than natural/organic which has all its vitamins retained.

No oil or diesel used to make fertilizer unless you are mixing up some kind of bumb...

lol...I agree, but if you can see the truth of your very own statement, can you also see that by extension all corporations are terrorists?

Their decision making process is no different than any other companies...its just the scale of their disaster is overwhelming. Whenever you choose to worship money, you find yourself making decisions to maximize your false god at the expense of anything else.

BP is evil. So is every corporation. Men hide their souls and defend their actions behind corporate logos.

When our government deemed the banks "too big to fail" they were essentially granting corporations (which are legal persons in the eyes of the law) immortality.

Don't miss that point, because the government will fail because of that decision...

All the wealth in all the banks is backed up by human life. Fiat currency is HUMAN money instead of gold...

Think on that. Its an important point and can lead you to a great truth.

In my opinion.

now might be the time people who have money can risk buying foreclosed homes.

I'm thinking people are going to come inland away from the oceans, looking for safe food and water and jobs.

There are a LOT of empty homes in Detroit, and every mall has 1/3 empty stores for people who want to open business.

Michigan with our fresh water, might just be the place to be now.....

amazing.
