"The placement of the containment cap is another positive development in BP's most recent attempt to contain the leak," U.S. Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen said in a statement late Thursday. "However, it will be sometime before we can confirm that this method will work and to what extent it will mitigate the release of oil into the environment."

Years.Literally. The nuclear option is open. These relief wells they are talking about which won't be ready till August, are not guaranteed to stop it either.

Been watching for 9+ hours now, flow has gotten a little worse every hour. 2-4 times what is was 9 hours ago...

Why? I don't know...


The cap is ON. BTW...

Allen is either an incompetent stumblebum or a shill hoping for a lobbyist job with BP. I cannot express how sickening this piece of trash is or my disappointment that La. politicians didn't demand his removal in favor of Gen Honare.

A little sarcasm I believe. Anderson Cooper was pissed last night. He kept saying how all BP needs is a spokesman to explain stuff clearly and the American people could at least partially understand what is happening down there and why everything is failing. He was really mad that the press is being kept out of the loop on this one.
