Just Got A VERY Disturbing Text From My Friend...

Are you familiar with "Occam's Razor?"

In case you're not, it states that a problem should be stated in its basic and simplest terms. In science, the simplest theory that fits the facts of a problem is the one that should be selected.

(i.e. - The simplest answer is often the correct one--until proven otherwise.)

That being said, do you and others like you truly believe the elaborate scenario you suggested, or could it be that Iran is provoking and actually wanting a conflict because it is being run by a few lunatics.

We are in for a wild ride (financially) from june the 10 to june 27

Okay, here's a little bit of context for you.

My friend is Jewish. He lives in New Jersey with his wife who is also Jewish. Her family is LOADED and when I say LOADED I mean they are ridiculously rich.

Her mother is very old but also very connected to old Jewish money.

In early 2007, my friend called me and asked if he could put my name down as a reference on his firearm permit as he was seeking to purchase a gun.

I asked him why he was buying a gun (my friend is the last person I would expect to own a gun) and this was his response - "With this downturn we are about to take, I feel like I am going to need a gun now for protection".

I said, "Downturn? What do you mean?"

He said, verbatim "The economy is about to take a nosedive".

I said, "How do you know this?" (remember this is early 2007)

He replied, "I've just been hearing things".

Bells and whistles were going off like crazy at this point, so I pressed my friend on the who, what, when and where regarding his "INFORMATION".

He told me that his wife's mother was connected to some extremely powerful people in Israel and that through the grapevine (i.e. pillowtalk) he had heard that the economy was going to go downhill in the not too distant future.

At the time, I didn't take this conversation seriously at all. But after the events of the last 24 months, I now can safely guess that he was probably telling me the truth, at least in part.


FAST FORWARD to today June 5, 2010.

This morning I received a text from my friend that said the following:

[wife's name] and I are moving out of Jersey.

I texted back: Why?

He said: Her mother (who lives on Long Island) called her and said to make plans to get away from the New York area immediately.

At this point I called my friend but he would not take my call. He usually always takes my calls but would not take it this morning as he knew that I wanted more information.

When I called our mutual friend (who is actually closer to my Jersey friend than I am) he said that the Jersey friend had informed him of the decision to move last night (June 4, 2010) and that they were planning on being out of the New York area by the end of June "at the latest".


I really don't know what this means, but when a well to do thirty-something couple that JUST had a baby in March, decides to pull up their entire lives and leave, for no other reason than because a relative told them to, it's weird.

What do you guys think? Has anyone else heard anything like this?

I don't live near New York city, so I'm not THAT worried, but I'm worried nontheless.

For what it's worth, the couple did not live in the area on 9/11/2001 so I can't say if the wife's family had any prior knowledge/warning to that event.

Thanks OP. Very interesting - I hope your friend's information is wrong, but a lot of things seem to be coming together and so what you posted seems very possible. The Dow seems to be creeping back down to the 8000 level fairly soon, and here in NY the legislature is having a huge problem trying to pass a budget - lots of service cuts and layoffs etc being proposed by the state govt, and couple that with the already poor world economy, the GOM disaster the outlook doesn't look good. Anyway, please keep posting whatever other info you can get. Thanks.

He's basically saying, "Things are going to get really tough this summer, worse in the fall, and terrible in the winter through into 2011 and beyond."

I'm now getting the impression that this is a terrorist scare, but rather a decent amount of foresight into the coming economic downturn or even collapse.

This was a typo. I'm NOT getting the impression that this is a terrorist motivated move, but rather it is a move based on the thinking that the economy is about to tank.

As for the other question of why he is being so veiled, that I'm not too sure of the reason why.

I'm guessing that he doesn't really care to continue discussing what he believes to be a very bad time in the near future.

He's always been very guarded anyway, so it might just be him and how he is. He has basically admitted that he thinks the next downturn will be something historical.
