There are no flames, people. It's an optical illusion. The cap is yellow, and the methane gas and dispersent are a light color. What you are seeing is a combo of those gas, dispersent, and oil roil around the sides of the yellow cap. It is not flame. Methane will not ignite under 5,000 feet of water.

So this either means massive amounts of methane must be leaking or it is volcanic, or the methane is igniting. I'm no scientists, just a musician with his head in history books. Regardless, it looks like the cap is gonna' blow. Then my god imagine all the oil.

Sure looks like flames to me. This well is 18,000 feet below the ocean floor, it could be they tapped into an undersea volcano. Some of the other wells are 35,000 feet below the sea floor, thats about 6 miles below the sea floor.
