Will it ferment, or acquire nasties like Kombucha allegedly tends to do? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 962698I doubt it will ferment. It's best to start from scratch if you want to make your own. |

It's even somewhat sweet, while the other stuff burns all the way down to the stomach. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 962698I tend to like the burn. Quoting: ZTEIt was a propaganda trying to demonize cs.... there has been no scientific study that would prove that cs causes argyria. But you do have a lot of msm videos that say otherwise. I have a cs machine, so I will have it for all my life. I know, I was just kidding. I still only use it sparingly, because I do not have a machine. No, but you really should by the machine... 40 dollars and it will last you all your life. if that is not a good buy, I don't know what is... |

PatrikC325 User ID: 587344 United States 06/10/2010 04:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I take 2 grams daily. The health benefits of turmeric lie in the active ingredient called curcumin. This powerful compound gives turmeric its therapeutic benefits, its yellow color, and its pungent flavor. More specifically, curcumin harbors antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, stomach-soothing, and liver-and heart-protecting effects. Turmeric is thought to reduce inflammation by lowering histamine levels and it may also stimulate the adrenal glands to increase production of a hormone that reduces inflammation. It is often used to ease joint pain and inflammation associated with arthritis. However, it is also used to reduce joint pain and in inflammation in other disorders as well. Turmeric (curcumin) also harbors rich stores of antioxidants. Antioxidants are disease-fighting substances that mop up the continuous onslaught of free radicals. Free radicals are unstable oxygen molecules that damage cells as they travel through the body and are responsible for premature aging and diseases such as cancer if left unchecked. In fact, Naturopaths often recommend turmeric for situations in which high concentrations of antioxidants are required. Studies with animals show that turmeric benefits liver health. Several animal studies suggest that turmeric protects the liver from the damaging effects of certain toxins, including alcohol. These findings certainly lend credence to the herb's history of use in liver aliments. Among the many health benefits of turmeric, is that it harbors antiplatelet activity. The herb reduces the ability of the blood to form clots and, as such, this action may improve circulation as well as offer some protection against heart attacks and strokes. If you suffer from digestive problems this may be the herb for you. Turmeric helps digest fats by stimulating the flow of bile. No wander it was used traditionally as a digestive aid. Laboratory studies indicate that curcumin has anti-cancer activity. More specifically, it destroys some types of cancer cells. For example, in the laboratory, curcumin kills cultures of human leukemia cells. This action may be due to turmeric's antioxidant properties or some other anti-cancer activity. Needless to say, more research is needed to determine turmeric benefits as a potential cancer agent. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 995742 United States 06/10/2010 04:20 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Please be careful with the colloidal silver. Frankly, it never has worked very well for me (I tried it for several infections, cold sores, coming down with a cold, etc) It really never seemed to do anything, but I always kept trying it because my Dad swore by it. My dad recently was diagnosed with cerebral lupus (which is a HORRIBLE disease), and both his naturopath and his team of "mainstream" doctors concluded that he had silver deposits both in his brain and in his major organs. They think that the silver poisoning was a trigger for the cerebral lupus. He has been on a detox program for a few years and is doing slightly better now (he can at least function independently and is cognitive again). When he used colloidal silver, he used about 1/2 tsp a day as treatment for a variety of health problems, some internally taken, some used externally. I don't doubt that it does help some people, just please be careful, and use VERY SPARINGLY. |

In my opinion, they are no different than taking a pill from the doctor. That's why there's a few pages of "possible side effects" on every advertisement. But you still need to be careful when trying anything "natural". Use very small doses at first. |

ZTE (OP) User ID: 779511 United States 06/10/2010 04:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I don't think it's a case of everybody reacts differently. Silver tarnishes. Gold doesn't. Silver does not belong in your body. I think those are good enough reasons not to drink it. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 962698All things are toxic, because toxicity is a combination of potency + amount of exposure. That's why too much of a good thing is a bad thing. That said, silver (for ages past) has been known as an anti-bacterial agent. It isn't just a new fad from within the past 100 years. This is because silver is still highly toxic to bacteria, fungal cells, and viruses, but it is not AS toxic to humans. It is still toxic though (just not as bad as other metals). So, yes, it can help, but too much of it can hurt more than it helps. That's one reason I started this thread - to get as many different remedies in one place as we can get. Not just one cure-all solution. Thanks for all the replies so far. Keep it up! Last Edited by Zedakah on 06/10/2010 04:35 PM |

I really have a hard time believing you, since colloidal silver resides under the skin. the only thing the msm and the "doctors" are saying is that you can get Argyria which is just skin colloration. This would make a world wide precedent and would be reported in medical journals. so the only logical argument would be that you are a shill or that he had some special condition or something becuase that can not happen normally. |

My son was on prescribed nasal sprays containing steroids to treat his severe hayfever. This is the first year he has gone without the prescription meds. Stinging Nettle is the best treatment!! It is natural and has no side effects and is extremely effective. I just wish I would have found out about it sooner. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 998771However, animal research demonstrates that silver accumulates throughout the body, even in the central nervous system. Silver absorption increases in the presence of inflamed or damaged mucous membranes. Tissue deposition of silver is often highest in the skin, liver, spleen, and adrenals, with lesser deposits in brain and muscle. Especially large amounts of silver can accumulate in the subepithelial portion of the skin causing argyria, typified by a permanent and irreversible bluish-gray discoloration. Following brain deposition, colloidal silver has caused myoclonic status epilepticus and coma after daily ingestion of colloidal silver for 4 months [Neurology 2004;62:1408-1410].
