Friday, 11-June-2010, 07:03 this morning, an earthquake shook at the Katla volcano.

10 seconds later, a slightly larger magnitude earthquake struck.

10 minutes later another earthquake trembled followed by yet a fourth earthquake hours later.

As I was writing this, a fifth earthquake just popped off!

Update: Now a sixth earthquake has gone off - this one though, way over on the western edge of the glacier area - lots of excitement today...

Even if that's the case, if you look at the planet as the living organism it is, this could just be a matter of it's immune system kicking in. No one really knows...yet.

Will will be in winter when it blows. We will stay in winter after it blows. For how long? That depends on for how long Katal blows, and how many tears in the magnetosphere occur. Finally, I'm liking the magnetosphere anomaly.

Prepare for at least 2 years of winter time without summer...at all.

AC, if you check past eruptions, volcanoes don't require a big quake to erupt..... a swarm of small quakes are the precursor for the big event.... it might erupt without a mag showing up on USGS... count how many tremors there are, not a lonely one of high mag.

If Katla erupts with vengeance, picture 100' tsunamis reaching the east coast of the US.

If Katla erupts with vengeance, picture 100' tsunamis reaching the east coast of the US.

The only way that large tsunamis could happen, is if the south shore of Iceland collapsed into the Atlantic with a Katla quake/eruption. That is not a likely scenario, unless Katla has potential for a supervolcano like eruption.
