Everytime I hear about this, I think about that BP document which clearly states that the well casing failed below the seabed.

I mean, it just isn't a new thought that this thing has failed way down deep, and stuff is leaking into the seabed.

BOYCOTT BP! This might not ever end, they need to be thrown in jail...Mother Earth is losing precious blood and you wonder why so many other 'unusual' natural disasters are happening through the world

Obama needs to accept this as a threat to the nation and organize the defense.

BP can't handle it and BP probably won't survive this as a independant company. Don't count on them.

There needs to be a national effort to stop the spill and the ecological disaster.

DO WE USE EXPLOSIVES AND HOPE IT WORKS or do we choose the slower inevitable doom that we have now? may be DOOM either way, but at this point if some explosives would stop or even slow the leak i'd choose that versus what we are currently doing.

this will and not be capped because their are fractures in the seafloor,capping the well will stress and put more pressure on that specific point

notice no one is talking about the upcoming "oil shortage",according to sources this is one of if not the largest oil bed found with enough if controlled and regulated properly to last over a hundred years or more (rumor has it the largest one is under the Dead Sea in Israel)

When oil starts lapping onto the beaches in Cuba and the pristine waters of the Bahamas, the International community will sit up and take notice.

At this point, largely due to the clamp down on the media, the rest of the world seems to think it is just a U.S. problem with an "Oil Spill".

The Gulf Stream current runs northward along the coast of Cuba and up the east coast, the oil will sweep up the entire east coast and hit Europe before Cuba. The current does get further away from the coast the further north that it is.

I sailed once form Miami along over to the Bahamas, down to the north coast of Cuba, and east to the Dominican Republic... we were on our way to St. Croix USVI, but got stuck in Cuba for 4 days, and finally completely broke down on an island off the southern tip of the Dominican Republic (Isla Beatta). Amazing how powerful the Gulf Stream is...

Relief Wells!

I`m not counting on these Relief Wells being now drilled, as the "cure all" for this disaster.

It`s important to note The comments from the drill operators that drilled the initial well, they said the pressure was so great the drill was bouncing back from the immense pressure as they drilled.

This relief drilling could encounter they same problems!

It could take years for the pressure to subside enabling a seal.

This could really be a disaster of biblicle proportions if it isn`t already.

i think their plans were to get the oil pressure to escape from a wider opening pipe, then to have the pressure building up under the area and damaging the seafloor

I think you are right.

If Lindsey Williams is correct that this well goes down 50,000 feet or so with pressure between 20k and 50k psi, then we might not see the pressure subside enough anytime within our lifetimes for them to stop this thing.
